Well, plenty of rumors are floating around that GM has cancelled the GTO program after an astounding 2 years. Does anyone want to remind me again why GM is going under (can we say not understanding fixed costs?).
If this turns out to be true, WHAT a shame. Links below:

Def not an overpriced Grand Am.

GM and Holden did a 3 year contract to send them here. After 2006 is anybody's game. Since we won't see the Zeta platform (GTO, Monaro, etc) any time soon. We can only think GTO is no more in 2007.

I'm sick of everyone saying its a grand am/grand prix with a big engine... have you ever taken a look at the original GTOs? it was just a tempest with a big engine. besides the fact that its NOT a grand prix, GM stuck with the IDEA of a gto, plain jane looking car with gobs of HP.
and to further more prove the point GM did a good job, it would leave whore thinking "what the hell was under the hood of that grand am"
Funny this thread is here, because my wife and I just test drove a GTO last night!
All I can say is...daaaammn. 0-60 in 4.6 seconds, 13's in the quarter, 6.0L, 400hp engine, a nice roomy back seat, and the car is SOLID. I mean SOLID. Everything is damn sturdy and seats are A+. All for 33 grand.
Not even close to a Grand Am. Read any review on the web and educate yourself.
