Hey guys, im leaving the j world. Im selling the cav this saturday . Now heres the hard part, i have no clue what to get. I want a bike, and maybe a decent car, or a nice car. Heres the problem, my dad wont let me get a v8 truck or car. So now theres no trucks or v8 cars. Also the top price i can spend is around 8000. I want to get something thats decent and will last a while. Not so much concerned with mods at this point, but a few will do.Im really stuck here so any ideas help. Also does anyone know if insurance for bikes is alot more than a car? Thanks for all your help.

Look into a used Hyundai: either an Elantra or a Tiburon. Give you good gas milage, good waranty, and there are the basic mods available for them both.

insurance for bikes is really cheap, as long as the bike's name doesn't end in "R."
since you're in maine, you're probably gonna want a good all-season car. that means no mustangs, firebirds, rx7's, miatas, etc. my personal favorite for that price is a 97-98 Lincoln Mark 8 LSC, but they're V8's, so you're @!#$ outta luck on that one. you could always look at a 96-99 Buick Riveria supercharged
V6, and since it's the same motor as a Grand Prix GTP, there's plenty of aftermarket. you could go with a 00-01(?) Subaru Impreza 2.5RS. there's the 99-04(?) Chrysler 300M, or 99-02 Mercury Cougar

yeah dude, if you're looking into buying a Rocket u might wanna take a long look at how much the insurance is gonna run u. I was just looking into prices for a new rocket and it would cost me $221 a MONTH for insurance. and then I looked at a '05 Honda Spirit 750 and insurance for that was only like $45 a month

anyways...where in maine are you from? i live in maine as well. for around 8 grand i dunno what i would do....but i know one of the first places i would be looking is in Uncle Henrys...its a great place to find cars and trucks and lots of other stuff in northern new england

beastman - if i were you, i'd save up and get a small reliable car that'll get you from a to b with no problems.
the money you'd save on NOT getting a more expensive vehicle, put away for when you're in college...you WILL need that money should you decide to do the college thing.

well my parents never gave me the yes to a bike, its more of a thing i want to do when i turn 18 in a few months. Im just curious about them so i can see what to expect.i also already do have some money saved away for schooling and the profession i am going into, you only need to go to a community college for, so i should be all set. But yea, i appreciate all your help guys, thanks for all the input.
