well today after work, a friend and co-worker of mine who has a 2001 dodge stratus R/T 5 speed with a AEM short ram, ecu upgrade, and borla cat-back was trying to show off on his way out. On his way out of our lot he reved twice, then dropped the clutch and all we here is BANG!!!....so he stops and tries to get it in gear but his tranny is grinding really bad. So after a few seconds of looking at this kids face we go push him back into our parking lot. Sure enough, we thing he stripped out his differential or blew his tranny or a combination of the two. The look on his face was priceless. Sorry i dont have a vid or anything but this is funny to me because he thinks that since he has a stratus R/T that he is the c*^% of the walk.
How is the Stratus R/T in general though?? Its on my list of cars im looking at picking up
Its actually a pretty quick little car. I like it alot. but if you are going to go that route, you have 2 options. Get the stratus R/T which doesnt have as much of an aftermarket for, or get a mitsu eclipse gt with the 3.0 v6. its pretty much the exact same car. same motor and trans. but there is alot more available for the eclipse than the dodge.
Im trying to get out of modding to be honest. Im looking either for a decently fast car from the factory or a Liberty Renegade. Every day i change my mind!!
i personally like the sebrings the best. my sister had an 01, it was NOICE! yes, they're pretty much the exact same cars, but i like the sebring's styling the most
I'm putting a lift kit on a renegade this weekend I'll have to put some pics up for ya to check out. Personally I would get the diesel Liberty if I was getting a new one but that's just cuz I"m a diesel fan.

Id probbaly be getting a used one. The lIberty is a bit out of my price range, i was shooting for 12-13 K at most,, but renegades are like 19-20 used. A scion Tc is probbaly the only other car in that range id consider for the price.
My short list is
Audi A4 99 or 00
Dodge Stratus R/T or sebring convertable
Jetta
Civic Si (for some reason i like the 02 ones, they are cheap too).
PT Convertable

A friend of mine has an 02 5-speed Stratus R/T. He has exhaust and 20's. It's a very nice ride but he's on his third tranny and his motor mounts make a lot of noise!! For a daily driver his car is awesome!!! It's got leather and is just a nice looking car. But he's beaten his up a little bit and I'm not very impressed at how it's held up. And I'm a mopar fanatic, but my cavalier has taken more of a beating and is in better condition.
And yes the R/T is faster then my Z. His third gear pulls pretty hard on me.
DO NOT BUY THE JETTA!!! if you do I'd recomend a comfy pair of shoes for when that piece of @!#$ brakes down on you
