NEW YORK – Chevrolet announced production plans for the 2006 Malibu SS and Malibu Maxx SS, vehicles that deliver a strong combination of performance and value in the midsize segment. Product highlights include the 240-horsepower 3900 V-6 with VVT (variable valve timing), segment-largest 18-inch flangeless wheels, and sport-tuned suspension, as well SS-specific exterior and interior appointments.

Not feeling those. At all.
GM fans, here's what the General is doing instead of reviving the F-body.

How about I ban Mr.Goodwrench-G.T. for being an idiot? He posted PICTURES but he DID NOT post the press releases or specs, which is what *I DID*
Owned. Sorry, try again.

that would be kind of funny to read.
Mr. Goodwrench G.T.
Reason for ban:
You are an idiot.
Have a good one,
Justin
Maybe it's just me, but I would actually be interested in a Malibu SS sedan. However, I do wish on the SS models, they would offer those in an optional manual transmission and not some type of manumatic transmission set up.
Also, how long before we see an Aveo SS or an Equinox SS. I mean it appears it's Chevrolet's/GM goal to "SS" a lot of their vehicles, so I'm just wondering how long before this happens, if it does.
Its a good thing this isn't a democracy.
I wouldn't mind seeing an Equinox SS... lord knows that thing needs more then 185hp.

That Malibu is nasty.
I agree about the Equinox, those are sharp looking suv's. An SS one would be great.

I'm trying really hard to remember but didn't it used to just be the sportier cars (not trucks) that got the SS? Considering Chevy doesn't have that many sport cars out right now I feel bad for the SS name.

Not necessarily. For a long time you could get an S10 SS. It used the same V6 as all other V6 S10's, same power. Only difference was the suspension and badging. If you are talking about WAY back, 50 years ago, sure, the SS badge was only given to cars. Of course, back then trucks were useful vehicles, not stylish. They had lots of power because people had to haul stuff. Trucks were for the working class. Not so anymore. Now trucks and SUVs are all about style and status.

Well the good thing is I won't plan on buying anything "SS" unless it's an older muscle car or a car I can respect for being an SS. That said, they should bring back the F-body.

Seems like GM will slap an "SS" badge on just about anything these days, just to make the sale.. I can't wait to see a new Aveo SS rollin' out soon!! haha.

I think it may be time for another "pronouciation poll"!
Better to have a fast ugly sedan than a slow ugly sedan.

chevy use to slap a "Z" on the side of everything, too, just to make a sale. same idea, different execution. im just sad because "SS" use to mean haul ass fast, kill anything on the road. now it means a wing, nasty body kit, and 50 extra ponnies. oh well, what else can we expect right now?

it's not how fast you go, it's how you get there that counts.

I agree with Dave, I wouldn't mind seeing an Equinox SS since I'm about to buy one of those family vehicles soon. The LT is a nice ride.
