They may be inexpensive to repair, but just as you are fixing one end, something will fall off the other. This tends to drive people crazy. You may think I'm kidding when I say that driving a stock J down the freeway will ride and handle like a Cadillac compared to a Beetle or Superbeetle, especially with any kind of wind.
I had a '74super beetle a few years ago, it was a heck of a hill climber. The '52 Baja beetle I had was alot more fun. It had 1801cc motor and a nice big 2bbl carb. I could lift the front wheels off the ground when I grabbed 2nd in that thing. You can very easily and inexpensively make a nice sleeper out of a beetle. And talk about off the line traction.
thanks for the replies so far anyone else have any input? i found within 1 hr of my house that appears to be in good shape its a 71 superbeetle 4 spd. and they are asking 2k obo i might check it out today id i finish getting my system looked at. ( subs stopped working after 30 min of use)
