actually its not really an m3 at all...depending on the year it couldve had the same engine as the e46 m3 ie if its an 02 it has the same engine as the e46 m3 but if its a pre 02 it has a different engine. in all cases the transmission is different and while the basic architecture is the same the dimensions are all different the track, wheelbase, suspension geometry etc is different than an m3. judging by the fact that its turboed in general and the fact that its turboed and making 420 somehting hp i would guess that it is not the s54 engine of the e46 m3. I would have to say it is either a pre 02 m roadster or a regular z3 with a body kit. I know the 1.8 bmw engines respond very well to boost.
