If it's a 2.5 4 cyl, it's normal.
Currently #4 in Ecotec Forced Induction horsepower ratings. 505.8 WHP 414WTQ!!!
Currently 3rd quickest Ecotec on the .org - 10.949 @ 131.50 MPH!!!
^^^hmm my 2.5 never clacked.
Yeah could be anything from a lifter, to piston slap, to a thrown rod, or a loose timing belt. Who knows.

Been OwNEd by a 2.2 lately?
Most all 2.5Ls are considered "noisy"; if it's a V6, the only thing really noisy are the lifters, which tend to tap a bit with age. If it's a 6 and the noise is very, very noticible at times other than startup, you may have problems.
It is a v6 and has 105,000 miles. he said it started around 8 months ago. I think its just showing age thats all.
for free, i would care less!
drive it till it blows up
If someone wants an '86 LE for Free, i'm sure my mom would be happy to get rid of the one we've got
C'mon now you 6000 freaks, bring out your tow trucks
Hey, as thankful as I am to my beloved beatAr for getting me through school cheaply, I'm looking forward to August and replacing it.

How much you want for it? It would be useful here in the snowbelt.
that old awd 6000 could be a good donor car for someone who wants to built a FWD Gm performance vehicle
I loved my old 88 6000 LE. Had the 2.8 V6. That thing was a tank. It had 209,000 miles on it when I traded it in. It never had any major engine or tranny work done. Just replaced a bunch of starters and altenators. Other then that, the car was golden. If I ever see it again I will buy it back.
Hell, my brother used to pull tractors out of mud with that thing. I beat the hell out of it. It taught me how to work on cars. My friends named it the 'Gunship' because it looked like it had been in a lot of battles. No rust but the paint was peeling and the driver door had dents in it.
Man that brings back some memories.
