really good to know.. u seem to be answering most of my posts
Thing is none to be 100% correct
If you are talking about the 2.2 Ecotec that is found in the J. Yes, it started life in the Saturn LS in 1999 as a 2000 model.
This engine was all new for GM. The other one Ecopower/Ecotec found in Europe is a Opel engine and that design has nothing to the Js Ecotec.

the motor was designed by lotus , and gm's euro divisions
thanks mr goodwrench.
i thought lotus had is hands on it
isn't lotus owned by ford
^Negative. The last engine Lotus did with GM was the LT5.
Saab helped do all the boosted Ecotec engines. But looking
at that engine closely there is more previous American GM I-4
aspects then anything else. Looks like GM took the name "Ecotec"
from Opel for marketing purposes.

No problem
To my knowledge Lotus is going solo. So no Ford partnership.

Does'nt the Saab come with a turboed Eco?
all saab's are turbo, but yes... they do have the ecotec
The ecotec was a joint venture between GM and Lotus in design, but not in manufacturing. The current 2.2L ecotec found originally in the Saturn LS in '99 was design by GM and Lotus, and manufactured by Opel (another GM division which I'm sure everyone knows by now). The smaller ecotecs (found in the Astra for example) are also GM in design, but were basically designed and manufactured by Opel.

Not true for instance...the linear version of the 92X is non-turbo while the arc version is turboed....but yea the 93 has 2 turbo charged engines one 210hp (arc) and the other 175hp (linear) i believe
Just Wait and See..........
