i just got it a week ago, and now the trans is blown, i beleive it needs a alignment, struts, wipers put back on. the engine was rebuilt with 45k on it, its an 2.0 auto....i know...slow......it has a

i would keep it, and fix it to great condition, but im a college student on my own, and have no money. barely could afford this car.

i guess the guy says the tranny was rebuilt with 1 k onit and may be still under warrent if the warrenty is transferable since i bout it. i know some warrenties to cover when you sell the car. if not then i guess ill be doing a manual to auto swap. well not me.........but someone will.

You should have done some research on the autos in mx-6s and probes. They are complete garbage. If you plan on keeping the car, try for a 5 speed swap. I used to have a 93' Probe GT and frequented Probetalk.com. I read many a horror stories about the autos.
if it has a warrenty do you think they will do a 5-speed swap in it? plus some extra cash maybe? i have the reciept sayin he paid 1600 for a rebuild. i hears its not hard but i dont know much about doing these things. i ask on mx6.com but they arent very responsive, and they tend to say studpid @!#$. and yeah the wing is already gone, and looking for a buyer for it. i dont mind sticking with the 4banger, but wouldnt mind the 5-speed swap either.
it would prolly cost only a little more to get a good engine and tranny from the junkyard and swap it in than it would to repair the trans
the engine is in good shape, only 45k on it, i would rather wait to have to swap it out now,. if your talking the v6 5-speed swap. i could always keep this as a back up or something. also a long shot, but what do you think it would cost me to get it done? i would be able to do it on my own and i don't know anyone with the experience to help me. perhaps any of you that see this and are from the Michigan area, know how, and willing to have a job?????

If you do think about selling it, I am interested. Michigan is not that far though I really want the v6 with power sunroof. Though it would be good knowlede for me to do a swap on a good priced car than one that is a bit more that comes with the v6.
this has a power sunroof on it, as well as power windows, ans locks. shoot me an e-mail with some kind of offer, and ill see what i think, and if you want more pictures, i can post them, or send them.

yeah but if this one is under warrenty, shouldnt i just let them fix it? or maybe offer them a lil more money and have them do the swap, cause i dont know how.
don't know about the car, but for anything when you come to the Mazda 626/ MX-6, and the Ford Probe, go with manual transmission even on the V6. Oh and V6 isn't that fast at all with an auto comparing to a 3 speed 2200 Sunfire. I raced my friends and he only got me on his front fender with both being practically stock.
yeah the tranny swap sound really nice, but i cant do it myself, and my other is under warrenty, so ill see if i can just give them a lil more money for them to do the swap.
my boyfriend had an mx-6 a little bit ago before he bought his s2000, if you fix the tranny and with its low milage you should be able to get a decent amount for it. his had about 140k miles on it and sold it for $3500. good luck with whatever you do!

I'd say do a 5-speed swap and drop a KLZE engine in there under about 8 psi... Rigth there you'd have a car putting over 200 to the wheels.
Also, I saw an MX-6 with a probe front end on it.... Wow, talk about a slick looking car.
Otherwise, it's a nice looking car.

ok well another question, when i put it in gear, the engine almost wants to stall out unless i give it some gas. any ideas? i think im in over my head with this car........... i know its a 12 yr old car, but even my 86 mustang was less of a hassle.

My friends 95' 2.0 has went thru three trans and two engines already. one 2.0 engine and one v-6 engine. All manual trans.

The tranny swap is almost a must with those cars to go fast, trust me, I had a PGT ATX, and it blew on me twice, the first time, it costed over $2k to fix, and 2 weeks in the shop for parts wait.
The second time is the reason I don't have it anymore.
It is NOT a stupid idea, but it is a lot of work.
Find a donor 5spd car, and do as much as you can yourself to save$$$, and it IS worth it if you plan on keeping her.
