So, as most people do, they buy another vehicle from time to time, and sadly in my case, i live at home and there's already too many cars in the yard so the cavy has to go, as much as i'd hate to see it go i have to move on. I've noticed a lot of people when they buy a new vehicle and post it on here they start trash talking the j-bodies, well, i'm not gonna do that, you know why? Because i LOVED, well, still love, my cavalier. It has been, by-far the most reliable, and funnest car i have ever had, and i will miss thee.
But the new addition is a 1998 Grand Cherokee, i needed something with a little more space and 4x4 for work so this did the trick perfectly.
I've only got one picture at the moment due i'm picking it up tomorrow

I love ZJ's. If you dont know what a ZJ is, you cant afford one.
Thanks, i rarely post pictures so i tend to forget by the time i post the next one, i usually just google it and do what it tells me... guess it was wrong this time lol.

It already needs ball joints and another bushing in the front end lol. You can turn the wheel about 1/8 of a turn before it actually turns the wheels, it needs a pinion seal in the rear end. But on the plus side, i only paid $1300 for it and the body and rockers are solid, 4x4 works great. Most of the ones i looked at had higher mileage, the rockers and fenders were shot, and they wanted about $3000.
Just need to buy the good ol' lifetime warranty parts lol.
But the plans for this jeep is to lift it 3-4" and put 31s on it. Maybe later on in the future put a nice steel front bumper with a winch and add some off road lights... then turn that purple paint brown lol. Buddy on the phone says "it's burgundy" i went to look at it... it's purple... there is no burgundy in this.. this is just flat out purple.

for suspension parts buy moog. they are more expensive but well worth it. lifetime warrenty means they will on replace it once maybe twice before they give you @!#$ about it. but seriously just put the moog in and be done.
i don't think you need to put a lift to clear 31's. as long as you keep to the same offset wheel as factory or the factory wheels u might rub at full lock or when you flex out the suspension.
a cheap way to put a lift on those is to get a set of coil spacers for front and rear. i think you can get 1"-3" spacers for around 60-100 dollars depending height. you should also be able to get away with the factory shocks up to 2". over that they say you should go with longer one. 4wd.com and 4wheelparts.com are good sites for parts and usually have good prices.

if you haven't already, make sure to join jeepforum.com. there's so much information there it's ridiculous, and it's helped me out a @!#$ ton. most people over there are super nice and very helpful as well.
and like MRThompson said, you shouldn't need 3-4" of lift to fit 31's. if you do that, you're probably gonna wish you were running 33s.
Check out my build thread!
The zjs will fit a 31" tire stock but it requires trimming, the main reason for a 3-4" lift is so i can have a little more suspension travel for flexing. I don't want to run any bigger than a 31" tire but do want the travel, 33s require some major trimming, even with a 6" lift. But the main reason for only running 31s with a lift is because i don't want to upgrade the axles just yet, and from what i understand it's pretty easy to break an axle in the dana 35 and 30 when you go bigger than a 31"... plus it's now my daily driver. I might look into the 3.5" Budget lift. Comes with new shocks and control arms but it moves the stock front springs to the rear and give you new front ones.

31's, 3 inches of lift, lunchbox locker, and a bunch of skid plates. You'll get over all sorts of @!#$.
You can put the front spring in the rear for 3 inches of lift and buy 3 inch lift springs for cheap, then peice together everything else you need.
The front springs in the rear actually give 3.5" of lift, you can pick up a kit that includes the springs, shocks, and control arms for about $300 at a local off road shop. As for the rear end, i'm going with a posi-trac limited slip system, costs a little more than the locker but works much better on the road than a locker. As for the front... that's for the future... i can only spend so much money at a time. I'm doing the rear end before the lift though, seems like a waste to have a 3.5" lift with 31s and can only spin 2 wheels when in 4x4. Im ordered 2 6" Diameter Hella Offroad lights, with all the mounting equipment and wiring for $90 soon, and picked up a couple of tow hooks from Canadian Tire yesterday. Due i'm not made of money this will be pieced together over time, though most progress will be made when the cavalier sells and when my $1000 government apprenticeship grant finally comes in... oh plus it's tax return season.
