Picked up a winter ride

I just got this, so I haven't had the chance to have any winter fun in it yet.

It's a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer Monterey Edition.
Leather interior, moonroof, HUD, steering wheel cruise, heat, and stereo controls.
I payed $3,000 for it, I think I got a pretty good deal. On to the pics.

It has its problem areas that would be expected from any 10yr old vehicle, but for the most part, I am very pleased with it, and it runs and drives great.

Yah im not a huge fan either, but yah for the winter, its perfect. We dont get those up here, just the explorer version. Looks like she has been rear ended already...

looks pretty damn clean, minus the rear bumper. i'd be interested to see if any rust has settled in under the running boards, that always seems to be a pretty common area, especially on explorers/mountaineers.

anyway, nice pickup!

It wasn't rear ended. The previous owner told me that something happened when they had a U-Haul attached to it and hit a bump.

No rust under the running boards. I was looking at an Explorer Sport that was 3yrs newer and it was all rusted to hell under the running boards though, so I know what you mean.

I also forgot to mention that it only has 84k miles.

I just figured I would drive it through the winter, fix a few things, and turn around and sell it in the Spring hopefully for a profit, and pick up something that I will want to keep a little more long term.

84k miles? damn. that's a helluva buy then. usually the only explorers in our area for $3k have more than 150k miles on them.

That's because they were retarded enough to tow with a Bumper ball. Too much tongue weight for the bumper I believe. You may be able to loosen the bumper bolts and straighten it out.

Nice find for 84k and $3000. Looks good!

$3000 isn't bad for what you got. Give it hell.

With all you saved on that low mileage(wow) u can spend a touch to fix that bumper unless you really don't care.GOOD buy for winter time.I still would check the basics belts, hoses brakes make sure they are ok.Checking is better than it breaking.Cool
