I have a 2010 Silverado I just bought 3 weeks ago. After being detailed by the dealer i noticed little dark colored spots all over the roof, top of doors, bedrails and inside of the bed of the truck... Its a white truck paint code 50U BTW. I looks like the paint was applied too thin at the factory and the primer is showing through. Has anyone ever seen or heard of this before..I have an appt with the dealer on thursday for it and with the 12 month 12000 mile paint warranty things should be fine i guess...I'm just curious to see if anyone has ever heard of this before? Thanks
when i bought my ZR-2 new back in 02 the roof was all fish eyed.
gm covered it.
i had the truck for about 2 months before i noticed it.

i could be wrong but i believe on the 06-07 silverado there was a service bulletin on the paint for dots of rust building up and the fix was to just buff it out.
i"ve seen it before, it happens, whether their painted by hunmans or machines mistakes happen.
SO, what your talking about there is rail dust, i haven't seen a TSB specifically talking about that but its seen on every car, if car isn't washed properly after drop off at dealer the rail dust rusts. Claybar does wonders for that.
It is not rail dust... my cavalier used to get that all the time..these are not orange specks these are dark spots black in color. like i said it looks like the paint was applied thin and the primer is showing through
Flaked fire....what was their fix for it....repaint?

yep exactly.
and since they didn't have their own body shop in house they subleted(sp?)
it out to the body shop i worked at and we sanded it down to the e-coat the re-primed and re-painted
dealer or gm never gave me any hassle or any problems.
