Honda Insight

I am thinking about buying a 1st gen honda insight. I think it would be good since I am a delivery driver and I think i will be doing that for the rest of my college life. So it would increase my profitability plus i wouldnt have to feel like trash driving a rusty old car around. What do you think?

Also if you guys could let me know if one is for sale on cl or whatever in your area cuz that would be great. I am having a hard time time finding one since they only made 17000 of them.

Seems like a good investment since you'll be delivering.

Good luck finding one

Original insight is amazing. You can get up to 70mpg. Probably not while delivering pizzas. They are pretty hard to come by, and I still see them for $9k or so. You would do pretty well if you could find a VX or an HX civic. They get 40-50mpg or so, and are half the price. Plus you don't have to worry about the hybrid system or changing out hybrid batteries.

Fueleconomy.gov lists the civic vx:

New MPG 39city 50hwy Original window sticker MPG 47city 56hwy.

Not as good as an insight, but a $2,000-$3,000 car is a lot less than a $9,000-$10,000 car. That is a lot of savings for gas money. Plus the VX has room to carry 4 people.

If you are considering the insight, you might want to consider the prius too. They are close in price and easier to find.

Just throwing it out there.

My brother got his for about 3k. It's got decently high miles on it, but it's a Honda. It's also a hybrid, so you know it wasn't beat on. He gets 70 mpg regularly MIXED driving.

From what I understand, it works differently than the Prius in that the Prius always uses a combination of electric/gasoline, whereas the Insight uses purely electric until a specific speed when it then uses a combination. This causes it to have a much better city MPG rating than pretty much any other hybrid out there. I could be completely off base, this is just what I understand.

In a nutshell, he loves the car, and gets insane MPG. It's totally worth it if you can find one for like 3k like he did.
