subie restoration

Anybody know anything about subaru rx's?

so far ive swapped the engine and replaced the pilot bearing, running good but...

Bad front axles... cut and removed = RWD HOWEVER....

Just tried to drive today and to my dismay... bad t-case, so studs up front spin and rears got nothing.

This has the full time awd 5 speed with hi/lo range.

Turbo spools to 7 psi and sounds amazing

umm its not a t-case. its all the transmission. also it is limited slip front to rear. you really need to do some research be for you blow the trans out of it. try some subaru forms like nasioc or rs25.com or something along those lines. those transmissions really don't like tires with different amount of tread either.

btw pictures don't work either.

Wouldn't that just mean that the power is going to the fronts because there is no opposing force acting upon it?

Should probably put your front axles back in...

yes that is what you refer to as a open differential or limited slip.

Restoration (plural restorations)

1. the process of bringing an object back to its original state

"The restoration of this painting will take years."
"The restoration of this medieval church involved undoing all the Victorian modifications."

Demolition (plural demolitions)

1. the action of demolishing or destroying

Easy to confuse the two...........

that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra
scary to me. There's a large, out-of-focus monster, roaming the countryside.

well for now, i just want to get it moving, also, it has the lock switch front to rear. its an 87

axles are on the way, its not getting left like this, only temporary to get it moving.

and i know the transmission and t-case are all one unit, pretty basic stuff here.....

This is actually a restoration but it needs to move quite frequently in the busy shop. This is the only reason i tried to make it TEMPORARILY rwd, As the manager frowns upon pushing it all the time.

anyway, I found out today the heads are bad. so the engines gonna come back out and im gonna do what i shoulda did the first time and replace all the gaskets, rings and such.

I'm trying to find them. I cut the front axles to get a rolling chassis. the front bearings are not sealed so i needed the ends to put the brakes back on, so i could put the wheels back on. I'm not gonna weld the diff

if your wheel bearings fall apart when you pull the axle out there is a really good chance the bearings are bad. over tighting the axle nut to hold the bearing together is a REALLY bad idea. especially after buying new axle. most times what is the bearing completely seizes in place and twist of the axle if you are lucky. it can also break many other parts of the driveline, engine, or suspension. imagine doing this at 50 mph car swerves hard right or left. God only know where you will end up or who or what you will hit. i do understand press in wheel bearings must have pressure from the axle to keep them from coming apart, but there is no reason you can't have a roller with out the axles in unless the bearing is no good.

i really hope i am misunderstanding what you are trying to post, because if i am not your are cause yourself and alot of other people out there a big headache. gl on your project.
