ok, so my car (cavi) got hit and while i'm waiting for everything to get worked out, i needed to get something to drive. looked on craigslist and found an 86 325, so i said, what the hell, for 700, ok. the body has 364000 and engine has 150000. needs heater core, brakes, and probably some suspension work to be in decent running condition. some cosmetic damage too(seats are beat up, surface rust, little things like that), but it'll get taken care of in time. oh, and it idles a little rough, so i'll be checking out the vacuum lines too. what do you guys think? anything i shoudl watch for on these cars to not do, or make sure i do?(gotta get in the habit of doing timing belts now). never owned a german car, so i hope maintenance won't be too bad.

Which is why I think he should sell it LOL.
However, if you feel like this car has a second life, go for it.
i'll get pics up soon, when i have time. i went for a bmw in this case because it was really cheap compared to what i could find, but i've been wanting a manual rear wheel drive car, and i've heard good things about bmw's, so i figured, why not. and spending a bit to get it fixed isn't a concern of mine. i'll put what i can into it when i can. i bet it can be a fun little track car though.
E30's can be damn good cars! Stout motor for sure. You might get some bugs here and there, but you will be very surprised how easy the car is to work on, and how cheap the parts are.
On the other hand....you have other fingers.
You think god never farted?

If I remember right, and I might not, it's been a while,... but bimmerforums.com I believe is one?

What a backwards ass move that would be. As stout as the I-6 is, I fully understand you guys have to be joking.

LSX
(someone had to)
I've seen a 4G63-swapped E30 before. Eco would probably be a significant weight savings though lol.

is there a reason why this is supposed to matter? it's an awesome motor, big @!#$ deal if it's a common swap.
Check out my build thread!
I want to put an LS1 in a Chevy Aveo.
