im going to look at a 2000 saab 9-3
it has 147k on it its going for 1500$
they say it wont move because of the clutch is shot.
my question is, are these decent cars?
are there any aftermarket support for these?
or should i stay away from it.

my dad just picked up a '99 saab 9-3 turbo convertible the other day, ran great. they are good cars that will go forever with decent maintenance. keep looking though, you can probably find a good deal on one that doesn't need to be fixed.
saw one sorta local, with a thule bike/snowboard...some sorta rack on it. manual,
black 4door hatch, with 53k on it...was like a 1995 or something. from the dealer they wanted
4-5k for it....shoulda got it, looked badass! and looooowwwww milage!

was there before the winter.....idk if they still got it!
My brother picked up a 2003 9-3 this past summer. Really nice car but WAY over engineered. I dont know about the older 9-3s
There really isnt any aftermarket support and everything is going to be really expensive! He just put $550 in new brakes!

^^^^ this but at the same time they are nice cars... there are a few upgrade you can do to them check out blouchturbo.com they have a few turbo options..

not to thread jack sorta here,
but the best deal on EBC brake rotors and Hawk pads for the SS's i have seen on CSS and stuff in the GP's
and from vendor sales for the combo set, it seems to be around $500-550 shipped!

well i looked at it today, vc is leaking as well as ps and oil cap.
has a noticanle misfire at idle, exhaust is needs to be replaced.
other than no ses lites on or anything like that it looks fine..
hmm 1500$ is ok, id like to get it for 1000.

I love SAABs (of course) great cars. Like they said there is very very little aftermarket support for them though, and don't bother looking into Hirsch, their products are not very available in the US, and are VERY expensive, I don't even think they make any parts for pre 2003 cars anyway. Check out www.genuinesaab.com The only issue I've heard in the older cars are with engine sludge. I could be more help for you with 03+ SAABs.

saw one yesterday while in stand-still traffic on the interstate. very nice
offer them $1k... if they say no, walk. they'll call you back in a week when no one wants to buy a car with issues
and EBC pads are horrible. stay away
