I'm trying to find out how many 2003 Chevy SSRs were produced and number of them in red. I can't find the information anywhere, does anyone know some production numbers or anything that can be helpful?
I know 24,180 were produced total but nothing else.
Thanks
are you thinking about getting one? They were great little trucklets that suffered from being way to overpriced.

I always loved SSR... never see them modded though.
We did a crazy fun turbocharged one with the 5.3. Sad the SSR never found its voice, and had a short run...but they are still amazing machines. I predict true collector value in the future.

I always thought it was kind of cool! Of course, they COULD have just kept making plain-vanilla blandwagons that sold by the bushel due to a media snowjob so they could ascend to the top of the sales heap and then get involved in one of the most shocking liability exposure situations of all ti.....
wait.
YES.
DAMN good thing they made cars like SSR and Solstice /Sky!

The SSR was a joke. Worthless as a truck or a car. Heavy, slow, annoying to drive, and uglier than an Aztek. The GMT360 platform just wasnt designed for use as a truck.
LOL i dont think ive ever seen one in any color OTHER than red.
i bet of those some 24,000 made over half were red.
The 6L version was great fun to drive right out of the box.
It was actually reasonably practicle for it's intent.
I'm glad GM made it.
The Solstice is IMO the best thing to come out of GM in the last ten years.
The SSR ranks up there in gheyness with FWD Monte Carlos.

It was a shame they stopped production of the SSR. My boss tries to find one every spring to drive during the summer. Last year I picked up a 2005 with the 6.0l and drove it back almost 5 hours with the top down the entire way and it was great. They are really only good for cruising and as a nice comfortable ride for a weekend trip someplace and more than enough room for luggage.

Thankfully I am redeemed in your eyes since I drive a Solstice GXP now.
But my monte could surely drive away from your Poorsche.

No,
I was really saying that you are an idiot for making the comment in the first place.
Don't worry, the false ego I derive from my new car is solid. My Solstice will drive circles around your junk and leave you behind at the drag strip too..

That's pretty sleezy.
Remember, you decided to be rude first.

Actually it was you who took offense. I didn't personally attack anyone besides GM. I just think the whole concept of a FWD Monte Carlo is a slap in the face towards enthusiasts, no manual gearbox, 2nd slap in the face!

I didn't take offence. I simply pointed out your aggression. Before your comment, I believe that I directed nothing at you or even said anything generally inflamatory. You are obviously the one acting like an e-thug.
I'm sure you well know that calling someone's car Ghey is considered a direct attack. Especially in a thread where the discussion is unrelated. Fanbois, with it's obvious conotations is n insult aswell.
if you look through my older posts, you would realise that I share your last stated opinion about the Monte not being an enthusist car.
It did serve me well as a salesman's taxi.
I changed oil and got a free wheel bearing out of warranty with no isue with the car in the 4 years i had it.
At the time, the competition had only front wheel drive cars costing 10 thousand or more to get the same type of car with decent power. IE...Monte...36,000...v6 Accord coupe....42 without leather and with 9% financing compared to my 1.9%.
It was a rational choice that was allso a compromise with my wife. She does not drive manual, so there it is.
Yes, I would rather a new w-body over a 20 year old bargain Porsche. That is if I needed it for work.
As for beign a GM fanbois...I am so for rational reasons. It's how I have made my living for many years.
If you looked at my profile, you'd notice that my dream car is in fact a Porsche. I'd rather have a toy 928 over a 944 anyday!
I now can afford 2 decent vehicles. My opportunity to buy a fun car was realized. Especially since GM had over 8 grand in incentives on my GXP.
Kudos to GM for bringing a car that could stomp Porsche's latest similar car(boxter...lol) at half the price all the while possibly being more reliable.
However, If you think that cars like the Kappa would save GM, you need to first accept that it lost money.
The SSR made great sense to the inteneded buyer.
As I know several SSR owners, I assure you that they typically have several other vehicles that make sense.
The SSR was made to be a new option for those who appreciate hot rods.
i hate the SSR. gm stopped making the camaro and replaced it with this thing. wtf
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!

That is a fact. GM decided to spend R&D on the SSR over GM's muscle cars. IMO it was a mistake and GM really was in no position to be doing that in that time frame. SSR was brought as a "Halo Car" as to serve no purpose, but just to be a stand-out car, like the Plymouth Prowler; GM wanted to bring people over to the showroom. This truck was initially intended to cost under $30K, but when all was said and done, IIRC it started around $44K.
Best model was with LS2 w/ 6-speed manual; the truck was quick with that combo. But I always saw the SSR as the one who pulled the plug on Camaro/Firebird.

another FAIL for gm. but much would of rather have checked out a new camaro than the SSR
