Anyone with any experience in these cars? which motors are better the 2.7 or 3.0? what are common problems and things like that? looking to have my parents pick me up one while im here in iraq. my dad would be looking over it so any help would be appreciated. thanks
Sorry I cant really help on the car, but don't have your parents buy it while your gone.. just wait till you get back and buy it yourself.. Your dad may buy you a Passat and not realize it.

Not unintentionally accelerating since 2009!!!!
I own a 02 a6 2.7t and yes the horror stories are true. preventive matienence is key on these cars because if something major breaks on one it can cost you almost as much as you paid for the car to fix it . try to get a warranty when you buy it ,mine had a gas tank recall that i took into the stealership and if they did not cover it (they did) it would of ran me 3 grand . but make sure if you do buy one it has the timing belt and all the pulleys done before you buy it ,it will run you about 1200 not at the stealership they are notorious for breaking around 80k . the only bad part on the 2.7 twin turbo motor is that around 120 -150k the turbos start to go and that is a pricey repair you have to pull the motor to replace them ,but other than that i have not had any electrical issues with it or any other problems for that matter. i love the car german engeerning at its best , it has plenty of power , awd , leather, heated everything , bose stereo , and too much more options to list but if you can afford one i highly recommend getting one you will love it!!!!! thats my 2 cents
2003 2.2 ecotec turbo 250 whp 247tq
Sure am eastwood. Barely but i am. Internet sucks in iraq so it takes me awhile to reply. So pretty much stay away unless i can find one with low miles?
I love the looks of the audi's, but the horror stories got to me. I decided against it and found another luxuary vehicle I'm very happy with. Also, like someone else said. Wait until you get back find one yourself. Just start doing some searching before you come back.
Be safe, keep your head up and your ass down. Its calmed down in Iraq a ton though. Pretty safe now. I just got back couple months ago from doing convoys. Taking some leave before I leave for Afcrapastein now. What ever your choice is good luck.

This guy is correct. They are good cars if you are good with preventive maintenance, if you are lazy about things then you will have problems.
