The new ride. Its a 2002 Lexus is300 in Absolute red. Black leather interior with suede inserts. I love the car. She's got 86,xxx miles. Her name is Ginger

Here are some quick pics with my sony cybershot. Nothing fancy. Today I clay barred it and waxed it.

My roommate has a good DSLR camera. I'm going to get her to take some pictures of it in a good location for me.

That's, by-far, my favorite lexus.
I'm not a fan of those wheels though - The stock 17s look 1000x better.

Sucks that it's an automatic.
But the IS300 in a 6 speed has been a car that I've always wanted to own.
Ever since playing GT3 and discovering the Altezza from Japan, I fell in love with the concept.

Nice car man and love the red. It also looks like the owner took real good care of the car which like most if not all IS300's are well taken care of by their owners.
Btw, how much did you get the car for? Most that I've seen were from 10K to 15K in any kind of excellent shape.
Good luck with it and enjoy.

Thanks for the comments guys. I got the car for 11k out the door. That was with tax title licensing and everything else all rolled up. I even got a full tank of gas and a pack of cigarettes, haha. They kept giving me a price and I would tell them to fix it while I go smoke. So I told them to hurry and make a deal before I go through a whole pack of cigarettes. They made me a deal and said we'll throw in a pack of smokes.

I take a lot of pics at the armament museum because its quick and easy. Real close to my house and makes a decent background. Mainly its just close and easy.

The rims are ok, I wouldn't have put them on their, but in person they don't look bad. Everyone who has seen it locally said they hate the rims, then see it in person they say they're not too bad. They grow on you. Its going to be a while before I get rims but I want some Work Meisters or something similar. Need to build a nest egg back up since I just dropped 11k on the car. I won't be doing a whole lot to this car. Its my daily driver.

As far as the auto...I was upset about it at first, but this isn't like driving a cavalier or a honda in an auto. The auto is a lot smoother, quicker shifts, and more crisp. Its not bad at all. Its peppy not fast but has a good power band so very comfortable to drive. The auto is a much stronger tranny than the 5-speed is anyways. Not that it means a lot to me since the extent of my mods will be intake and very very mild exhaust. Like I said...its a daily driver so the auto is great. I still have the integra when I want to rip through gears.

Maybe you can trade the rims for some stockers on a lexus forum or craigslist?
That car's seriously begging for its oem rims (and maybe an eibach pro-kit).

I'd take care of those two things before I started banking my cash again.

I envy you man.
I'll trade you my just purchased Porsche 944 in excellent condition for that Altezza.
You really don't know how bad I've wanted an IS300.
Good luck with the car and that's a really nice daily driver.

Bimmers will ass rape your pocket book with repairs.
As much as I like the e46, I think he made a great choice.

I like those rims better than stock. The rims I want are going to run me upward of 3grand. So its going to be a while before those rims change. I'll be going with 18's when I get the rims I want. That way I can run a 40 series tire instead of the rubber band 35's. I want a nice staggered set. Looking at a +35 offset 9" in the front and +25 offset in the rear thats 9.5" I'd like to stick a 245 up front and a 265 or a 275 if I can squeeze it in the rear. I've got a friend with the fender rolling tool so I'll roll the fenders. I really don't want to lower it seeing how its my daily. I may do a very mild drop though.

I could never bring myself to spend 3k on rims (rims get damaged/ go out-of-style quicker than you can pay them off). IMO 3k is better spent under the hood.

If that was my IS, I would get a set of stockers powdercoated black to match the red/black theme. I would go with a basic eibach pro-kit (only 1" drop), and I would pick-up a set of jdm black style headlights (eventually doing a proper projector retro). The IS is a sexy car; it doesn't need much on the exterior.

I'm not looking to spend much under the hood. I'm only doing mild mods to make her look pretty and keeping it at that. As for rims going out of style that doesn't bother me. I'm buying rims I like and keeping it at that. In style out of style what ever it may be doesn't matter to me. In fact I wish they were already out of style they would be cheaper, lol. I've already looked into a company on the IS forums that does a Q45 projector HID retrofit. I'm going to do something like that.

Thank you, thats what brought me to this choice. I love the looks and feel of the car. Plus its the best bang for the buck. Car doesn't look like you could pick one up used for 11k.

I'm not a fan of "mad camber" at all. Specially on a daily driver where tires will wear fast and cost me a couple hundred a piece to replace. I'll be going with a set thats nice and flush keeping a factory spec alignment for best driving aspect.
