Z28 back on track?

just read in my GM High Tech Performance mag that one of the VP's at GM let it out that the Z28 is coming.

supposed powerplant is the LSA motor that's in the new CTS-V.

cant imagine why they would have two 'special' models...

funny thing about the LSA , it doesnt fit in the camaro

but the LS9 fits in nicely

Where you been?

The Z28 and SS have both been around for decades.

Back in the 60's the Z28 was above the SS.

Z/28 was basically a "track pack".

SS used to be a trim level. It was not always the top performer of the line up.

i thought they were basically the same, with minor changes in internals, intercooler, and pulley size for less boost in the lsa

ZZP XP cam, 1.6 rockers, 105# springs, speedbuilt FWI, 3.3" modular pulley, TOG headers,
3" exhaust, flomatched injectors
'97 GTP 14.06@100.6mph pre cam w/ 3.5" pulley, I/E

Uhhhh, the last gen Camaro SS was above the Z28 in cost and power, lol. Or did I miss something?

Super Street, or SS, is an option package offered by Chevrolet on many of its vehicle lines since 1961. Some of the better-known models to bear the SS badge include the Camaro, Chevelle, El Camino, Impala, Monte Carlo, and Nova. Originally introduced in 1961 as an appearance package for the Impala, it became a high-performance package in 1966.

Until the Impala SS was brought back in 1994, the Super Sport package was only available on two-door passenger cars. Since then, however, the SS package has been used on a variety of GM vehicles, including pickup trucks, four-door sedans, and front wheel drive cars.

Both historically and today, the Super Street package has typically included high-performance tires, heavy-duty suspension, and increased power, along with a variety of other performance and appearance upgrades. All SS models have come with "SS" markings.

Current Chevrolet Super Street models are the Camaro SS, Cobalt SS, HHR SS, Impala SS, Silverado SS and Trailblazer SS. North American-market SS models are tuned by GM Performance Division. The Impala SS is slated to replace the Monte Carlo SS in NASCAR racing, as the latter has been put on production hiatus.

The SS badge is also used by Australian manufacturer Holden on its SS Commodore and SS Utes.

SS stands for super sport

Hopefully the z28 will be what it originally was, a stripped down model with no frills with a high revving engine made for racing.

i have a feelng it will not be stripped down. however, the engine im sure we will be happy with, and im sure there will be other things to go along with it. does the base camaro come with crank windows? or are there only power windows available?

the LS9 uses a 2300tvs , and the LSA uses a 1900tvs which is smaller

but something with the intake/intercooler setup is way different , the LSA intake/intercooler sits up alot higher than the LS9 , which sits low for the low hood line of the vette , the guy i talked with at SEMA said its the cowl area that is where the interference is

but the Z28 is supposed to get a taller hood , which doesnt solve the issue completely

i say ls9 camaro! that way i won't have to try to get e hennessey $100000 car just to have one. and, with how heavy the car is, and the suspension on the car(i mean irs, not keeping their struts), is it possible to make the car handle really well? or no?
