Ok so my girls Jeep doesn't blow hot air. She took it to a garage last winter to have the problem fixed and they sent it back and said it was fixed.. um no its not. everything else works, the fan speeds, the vent selectors, and temp but it will not blow hot air. Where should i start to look for this problem? Is there a door/flap in the vents somewhere that switches from the hot air to the cold air? anyone have a diagram for the HVAC system?
heater control valve maybe? i'll try and get a pic for ya
1.) Has it ever blown hot air, or did she buy it like this? Just wondering if someone bypassed the heater core at some point.
2.) Is the "plumbing" for the vents free from obstructions?
3.) Does the motor get up to operating temp when driving? Ie. 195'ish?

Common and i think kinda expensive. Someone did a DIY fix for it
I think I remember these having a problem with the "blend air door" getting stuck because the foam seal would come unglued from the door and jam it inside the HVAC housing, if I'm not mistaken. Not much to be done in that case other than pull the dash out, remove the box and correct the issue. Could be any number of other issues too, broken vacuum line to/from the control head, failed actuator, broken actuator linkage, etc.

^ usually the blend door happened on the Grand Cherokee's, and usually when that happened, the heater was stuck blowing hot air all the time.
Check out my build thread!

I found the problem iwht the Grand Chorekees but nothing about the plain old Chorekee
ok so i took a drive tonight in the keep. Everything works alright. It does switch from cold to hot, you can tell the temp change by placing your hand over the vent. The air isn't really that hot tho. maybe 50-60* . Also sometimes theres a whistle coming from the drives side somewhere that only happens when you are not on the throttle and goes away whe your just sittin there idling. Now tonight is always started turing the highbeams off randomly lol We'll be driving and then all of a sudden no lights, so you flick the low beams on and you have low beams. then after awhile your'll flick the high beams and they will maybe work or not
probably the thermostat isn't opening fully? Thats most likely, if not, it could be that the heater core or the hoses to it are plugged up with gunk.
As for the headlights--- first thing I'd do is check the connections and the lamps themselves for anything loose or otherwise obviously damaged.
