1976 Trans Am

I bought this car at the beginning of Summer. I have always wanted a trans am and I found one pretty close to me that I couldn't pass up. It was originally white with red decals but was repainted blue. It has a Pontiac 400 in it with a couple mods. Edelbrock RPM Preformer intake manifold and a Holley four barrel carb. The guy I bought it from said the engine and transmission were recently rebuilt but it is hard to tell. The interior is all black with vinyl seats.

This summer I spent most of my time taking apart the front end cleaning it up and painting everything. The firewall, cowl, fenders, control arms, underside of hood, and radiator support are all painted with POR 15. Great stuff strongest rust preventive paint out there IMO. I just put in plugs, wires, cap and rotor in and it runs great. Its a fun car to take out on the weekends.

Engine Bay when I just got it:

After a lot of sanding and painting:

It is currently put back together I just don't have any pics of it yet.

I love the color and the car in general. Prefer 5-speed, but oh well. Nice!

I wish it was a four speed too. I have been thinking about swapping it. its pretty easy no electrical to worry about just bolts right up and change the pedals

Nice score! Needs a 5-speed, though!

That's probably my favorite year for the TA. It has the later 2nd gen body lines, but still has the round headlights.

I have a BOP bellhousing and a Hays flywheel for a Poncho 400.

Love the car.

It could use some t-tops. Nothing beats the feeling of wind blowing thru a mullet at 100mph!

I love it! You don't see many mid 70's T/A's anymore. Most restored ones are 70-73 or 77+. Yeah I'd opt for a 4spd swap as well.

I don't know what all the 5spd comments are for If you're gonna swap in an overdrive I'd go with a t56.

Nice looking T/A!

I'd lose the Pontiac windshield banner though IMHO

Good looking car!

How much did you pay for it, if you don't mind me asking?

I've been considering one around those myself....

Thanks for the comments guys. I paid $6500 for the car. I thought is was a hell of a deal. Tinkles I have never heard of the BOP transmission. was that the factory 4 speed?

BOP referrers to anything dealing with Buick(B), Oldsmobile(O), Pontiac(P) engines. Those engines have their own bell housing bolt pattern.

Side note, BOP bell housings work on Cadillac V-8s too. 4-speed behind a 500 anyone?
