If its got VTEC its the 186 hp 2.2. The 2.3 didnt run VTEC.
ok cool. its got 120k he wants 1900. runs great. 5spd and is clean inside and out
quick look in the engine bay: injen intake, but the cheapest of cheap battery, a flex hose for the radiator... look closer at maintenance/wear items. seems like it COULD be an indication of the state of the rest of the wear items.

will do. I figure though even if it goes to crap I can always just throw a new engine in. The body and interior is clean
It's a 160HP engine, H23 block with a H22 head which would have VTEC; possibly, and most probably.

where is the id on the block if your looking at it from the front?
I'm not too sure about that. I know my friend had a SE prelude and ran great but he sold it for a teggy. I asked him what was the engine type and thats what he told me.

Easy way to tell: How high does the rev counter go before redline? VTEC performance engines will run to 8000+, whereas the econo engines only go up to 6000 something. Unless he did an Si/other VTEC Prelude dash swap, it should be easy to tell just off that.

You can tell this from the blury picture how?
Unless they did a head swap its an H22.
Engine code should be right under that flex rad hose. Little square with a code such as H22A1.
To me, thats definitely a H22. Unless like stated, there was a head swap.
