I see this sort of thing often. What happened is that the Mustang in the pic is probably rusted so bad that it's monocoque frame is ruined, and the guy had an F150 4x4 frame/drivetrain lying around whose body was rotted off. So he mixed both of them together and "saved" the Mustang. The perk is that you pay insurance and plates for a 2.3 four banger stang instead of an off roading truck. That can save you a whole lot of money sometimes.
Seen it done to old Escorts too.
