I was wondering if my Ford Ranger could tow a 1980 Mini cooper, or you think the truck is underpowered for this?
should be able to w/o a problem

Agreed, it'll have plenty of power to tow it. Will be a little slow, but you won't be blocking traffic either. Just brake well (and I do mean WELL) in advance of stops. I've noticed that while most compact trucks have plenty of pulling power, they're a little giggidy on the stopping.
If i was able to tow a loaded 1800lb. U-haul trailer across country in a 1.6l Geo Tracker your Ranger sure as heck can tow a car. I was able to do this pretty effortlessly in the tracker with crusing speeds of 75mph with the A/C on. It didn't get hairy till i hit mountains.
Long story short, you'll be fine.

Just figured I'd ask, according to the dang owners manual it dosn't say I am supposed to tow much of anything, and it kind of got me worried..... You know after going through the hassel of importing a mini I don't want the trip home be the hardest thing ya know.
The mini weights what? 10lbs wet? You'll be fine.
