We've gotten about 20 clunkers at my work, and the models are somewhat surprising.

A Toyota previa
older 5 or 7 series bmw
older mecedes
older nissan suv
and then the typical cars on the top ten list

Also you're suppose to blow up the motors and the engine that lasted the longest with the crap your suppose to put in them was the GM 5.3.

You gotta remember, alot of people are trading in trucks and SUVs, who makes the most trucks and SUVs? Sucks that people are trading them in but if GM, Dodge, and Ford hadn't flooded the market with vehicles that got bad gas mileage people wouldn't be trading them in for things that get better mileage (which people still believe are all imports despite proof to the opposite).

So someone traded in a Corvette on the government program. get over it. They are following what they were told to follow. that is how the program works. that guy who traded in the vette knew that. it's not your car so why whine and cry about it?

Part of the cash for clunkers program, once turned into the dealer the dealer has to blow the engine up with the (can) stuff provided. Then hopefully the GOVT. tows all these clunkers away to be scrapped for materials only not for parts.

So does that mean junk yards will become a thing of the past since they are destoying cars and not reusing the good parts?

If this Cash for Clunkers gimmick keeps going for a prolonged period of time, junkyard's might be doomed.

What i don't understand about the Corvette video is why the owner traded it in? Granted, the video isn't the best to check for what shape the car was in but it appeared to be in fairly good condition. Surely he could have sold it for more then $4500. Trading that car in may have cost him a few thousand dollars easy.

if they gave him 4500 its up to 4500 and i know they have been fighting about getting paid for these cars they already blew up. wait till obamma decides to cut the program and all these dececnt "gas whores" they just blew up sit there and they cant get s*^t for them. cause the govt slide out the back door lol.

'80s Corvettes don't go for much now adays since they're not the best looking or fastest Corvettes around (also being 20+ years old hurts them). He might have got $4500 for that Corvette if he did a private sale and even then he'd be lucky if somebody got a loan or had the cash to pay him his asking price for it without hassleing him down a couple hundred.

it wasnt as much about the vette , as its about HOW FARKED UP OUR NATION IS RIGHT NOW

let alone the abamanation for president we have , and all the stupid crap like this he is doing , id rather have another 4 years of bush than this clown , and all the people that voted for his ass should be SHOT

not to mention the big push to be GREEN and eco friendly , and nothing with this program is green , and will put people deeper into debt in a piss poor economy

As much as you seem like a raging sociopath, I agree with you. it's a FAR better policy to re-use and reduce than it is to recycle.

Don't worry, in 4 years you'll have a crappy Republican president ruining the country by spending money on things that don't work and pushing ahead programs that destroy every last ounce of independence and liberty you Americans had.

I think Americans need to seriously wake up. The only reason you think the Republicans would be doing any better than the Democrats is because they're not in power right now wasting your money and screwing everything up like those idiot Democrats are. But if they were in power, if it was John McCain that had won the election, they'd be doing very literally the EXACT SAME THING. Oh, they'd sugarcoat it in a different way, putting one of those "I you love Americaaa..." spins on it that y'all love so much, but essentially it would come down to: Little Guy Gets Screwed Again + Big Business A**hole Gets All The Money = Politics As Usual.

Simple Math. They do it every time. I think that by now you've stopped having the right to be surprised. Lemme make a prediction okay? Lemme get my crystal ball...

*rubs his ball(s)*

I predict... that your next president... will... SUCK!

And he will... oh yeah, trust me he will. He will take everything under the guise of giving. He will reduce freedom under the pretext of liberty. He will make you poorer while saying how much better everything is. And you, the American people, will fall for it. Like you always do. You will bend over, spread your cheeks and take the big dildo of government intrusion and you'll act you LOVE IT, because you love being told what to do by people who are on the same political side as you.

All these Democrats right now who are supporting Obama would have been tearing their hair out and screaming "RAPE OF THE COUNTRY!" had Bush done the same thing. They'd be the ones having the tea parties. They'd be the ones protesting.

And there's a huge hypocrisy right now having to do with Health Insurance in your country. I actually heard a Republican use these very words when describing Obamacare: "This new program will hurt the most vulnerable Americans"

He actually said those words with a straight face. I couldn't believe it. Hurt the most vulnerable, you mean the ones with NO HEALTHCARE???? Hey, I'm not for a purely socialized healthcare system, but I think that people with no healthcare might not mind having bad healthcare. Just saying...

The point I'm trying to make is this: It's only gonna get worse, and the only thing that either the Conservative of Liberals have to offer you right now is a cute ad campaign and a near 100% level of corruption on every level. Neither side is going to make it better. Neither side wants to make it better. They just toss the blame around, make sure that every new generation is dumber and more accepting of being screwed than the last, and laugh themselves silly while buying themselves things with your money.

You all are going to have to organize and save yourselves if you want true change. Not wait for your mommy and daddy Government to do it for you. They won't, nor do they want to. The liberals and conservatives, pacifists and gun advocates, vegans and meat eaters, loose changers and false birthers, are all gonna have to look past each other's difference that the government has been accentuating for decades in order to keep you fighting amongst yourselves, and turn to the real enemy. The rich a**holes in charge.

Gonna do it? Or are you just gonna sit there?

Personally, I got a dollar on you guys. I love America and Americans.

this is the way I see it. this Cash for Clunkers program is not a good thing. they're taking cars/parts away from the junkyards that some people might depend on to keep their vehicles running. not everyone can afford a new car payment. just look at all the people that have lost their jobs and homes.

again, just another program where the money could have been used to help people pay off their mortgages and put more money into their pockets.
