Hey everyone. In light of my recent car problems and finding this deal i'm considering buying my winter beater early, probabaly within a month. Anyway I found this and the deal seems pretty tight, but does anyone here have 1st hand experience with this car? Any advice? Think it'd be a decent winter beater?
It's a 2001 Subaru Impreza RS, awd, power windows, locks, sunroof, leather, cd & cassette radio, automatic, a/c, cruise, tilt, keyless entry with remote start, 16" alloy rims, both rubber and cloth factory floor mats, 128,000km., 2nd owner car, recent tune-up, 2.5L 4cyl boxer. 165hp 166tq. It's black with silver rims looks un-molested.
He's asking $6000 CAN. But hopefully I could bargain down to $5000 or $5500, depending on how the car runs on the test drive. Seems like a decent deal but i can't find black book value anywhere, or insurance rates, which are hopefully lower then my sunfire. Only thing sucks is that it's an auto.
That's a cool looking little car. I'm sure it would be a blast in the winter, like all things Subaru. Too bad it wasn't a standard!

It sucks about being auto but meh, it'll make me wanna drive the sunfire even more.
Hopefully with an intake this thing will have a nice subie sound. Tinted windows would be nice too. The wing seems a bit high and could be distracting but without it would look like a kia
I'd buy that as my daily... Looks like a good deal.
Ide def. leave the wing or put a lower profile one on it, something unique, but i wouldnt delete it in total. If you got it tinted, it be golden.

exhaust will bring out the boxer sound more than an intake... unequal length header, highflow cat, and a decent exhaust.
as for problems, ask if the headgaskets have been replaced? 01 should be the single cam 2.5 but they still have head gasket problems (not quite as bad as the twin cam motors) If they haven't, make sure they aren't leaking. other than that, it's a subaru, they are pretty dependable.
