one of my friends is talking about putting a 383 stroker in a 87 rx-7 i think it is retarded im tryin to get him to find a 3rd gen camaro i found him a 83 roller for 600 in great shape so what im asking is what do u guys think would b the best way to go
but im looking at it as the rx-7 will never happen he had a 93 eclipse gsx for 5 years and put 700 miles on it the camaro ca n b done in a few weeks but the rx-7 has allot of custom work involved and he has no experience all he has is hand tools like wrenches and hammers and no car background
o the eclipse dnt happen because he couldnt fix it he tried to do it himself and that dnt work at all
ask him how he plans to put a 383 in an RX7?
finding a V8 in an RX7 isnt that rare. heck there is a RX7 with an LS1 in it that races at my local track
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
The swap isn't actually that bad.
go
here for a complete kit to throw that bad boy in there.
These swaps usually require no custom work at all if you get the kits that are sold on that site.
yeah... it isn't your car dip@!#$. Let him build what he wants. V8 RX7's aren't uncommon and I think are actually pretty darn cool. They make kits to do it. You are trying to talk your friend out of doing something he wants. You sir, are a bad friend.
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

Yepp, Lane builds some badass stuff Cody and he's the one that built my transmission too
talked to him this morning and he decided last night that hes in over his head he decided to just get a car with a v8 already in it
I just bought an 87 RX-7. Sponsored by TopEndUSA and were putting a 2JZ in it. A SBC isn't hard to put into these things. Becoming relatively common. I don't want wanna hear the whole "It throws the weight ratio off" deal either. Most people don't realize that the LS1 only weights 50lbs more than the traditional rotary garbage they put in there.
