Thought I would post this question here. I sold my 99LX 4 banger contour because I was offered a great price for it and I would of been a fool not to sell it. So now Im presented to buy a 1992 5.0 LX, 5spd,burgandy Fox Body stang with 81,000 original miles from florida. The car has absolutly no rust anywhere. The paint is an 8/10 and the interior is an 8/10 as well. The guy said he would sell it to me for $5,000USD. Mechanically the car is sound and has had a fresh tune up. I guess my questions is should I buy this car and use it as my DD? I was looking to get a car but not this soon. Just wondering if I should jump on it?
Thoughts that you may have?

How far is your commuter ? 5k is a pretty good price for it... the 5.0 can pig the gas down..

I have a 30 mile commute each way.

You could start racking up some hefty fuel costs then. BUT 5k is a great price for here in Canada for a car of such "said" good condition.

If 16/city and 23/hwy is ok with you grab it (i'm guessing on mileage just being a v8). V8 and RWD is a friggin' blast.
Its a hatch back LX...the seller just emailed me and is backing out on the price. He said he wants 6k for the car now. I told him that all I could give him is the 5k.

If he offered 5k and is now asking 6k it doesn't sound like he knows the cars value and someone told him it is worth more. I would question his knowledge of cars and how to properly maintain a car that old, if he doesn't even know what it is worth. At first, I would have said yes jump on it, try to haggle but $5k isn't bad. I personally wouldn't even consider it now. He didn't know his own cars worth, how confident can you be that he knew how to take care of it properly?
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

True, When I asked him for pictures of certain areas I think he realized that the car is in great shape. It has no rust at all. No leaks and really clean. I will see what he says. I told him thats all I can give him.

Give it an in-person look over and a test drive. If you have cash in hand, there is no reason any seller would turn down a test drive.

As long as gas doesnt go back up to $4.00 it would be sweet.
