So I got a call from my old boss telling me to drop by and check out this beauty, so I did. Turns out the owner is a customer of where I work, he is a Israeli and the man $hits money, but is a very nice guy to deal work with. I got to drive the "basic" SL65 to a VERY high ungoverned speed before, and let me say this is what Benz should have brought before, it just plain better. The best way I can describe this car is, it is like taking off from a Boeing 747. The car has 738ft-lbs of torque and 661HP, but the car weighs in at 4200lbs, roughly 300lbs less then the "basic" SL65. And weighs in less because it has a lot of carbon fiber on the exterior, but a lot of BS was removed. Solid roof and integrated roll-bar (no hydraulic roll bar), the unreliable "Sensotronic" brakes are in favor for a reliable hydraulic system, and the air suspension was dropped like a bad habit in favor for a coil-over suspension. 300 are being made world wide and 175 of them are destined for the USA, and this model replaces the POS SLR. Good riddance.
The only fault I could find was it still has no f-ing dip-stick, you have to rely on sensors to determine the oil level. F-ing Germans LoL.
But point blank, this is the first Benz I've seen worth it's price tag...$300K.

Excuse the camera phone pics.

That piece I'm holding up is the the base of it, but the metal part is even there. All the current V12 has this dumb system, but Benz is learing the rest of the line-up now carry a dipstick.
