FINALLY got a DD
Monday, February 16, 2009 10:48 AM
so i finally found another ride. so my baby is finally retired to shows. and this is gonna be my daily. only problem i have now is im already look at parts to mod it lol. nothing extreme but still. new paint, rims, drop, system, phantom grill, roll pan and ground effects.removing spare, and cleaning up the interior

got really lucky on this purchase. got it pretty cheap. its a 94 s10 blazer. got the vortech v6. has. 200hp 260tq i believe. very good motor from what im hearing from others ive talked to. better than the previous crappy 2.8l v6.also has about 132k on it. but for 750 im not gonna complain

ive cleaned it the best i could. paint is screwed mainly cuz the owner didnt take care of it. but its not a problem. also it has a dent in the front bumper but i can easily replace it. just put in a pioneer deck in it as of saturday too

to anybody who has owned one,any info or problems youve encountered.id love to hear your opinions on it.

yea man I was suprised when I looked it over. it has a 2" dent on one of the passengerside doors and has some surface rust on top by the windshield and roof rack but other than those things there's really nothing major!!

cool. thanks guys. kg ive been hearing that they were the best v6 that gm put out at the time that was just under a v8. (whatever that means) so i heard they are pretty strong motors as long as maintenance is kept up with.

01 CAVY + 93 S-10 here

2.8 5-speed, 180k on the dial, not a single problem.....besides rust, and being ugly.

Its getting repair panels and paint this spring/summer to fix that though. Also looking for some drop spindles to take my 3/3 drop to a 5/6. Shaved handles and tailgate, and will be making a custom flushmount tonneau with linear actuators.

I have had three s10's with that motor, the only problems gm really saw with the motor is the fuel pressure regulator, but they are easy to replace but somewhat costly

cool thanks guys. i already ordered my free catalog from lmc and ive looked on summit and suicide doors etc already.

03supercharged its funny you say that because i can already see that mine is going bad. i hav yet to price a new one out yet but ive helped my friend change out his regulator on his tahoe .

first things i plan on doing is removing the roof rack and spare.getting a new bumper and lowering it. but im def in no rush to do all that right now as i still gotta finish the swap on the cavy lol

i dont know if this year had problems with the fuel spider, but with all the injectors it had some issues, still a great 200k motor easy, oh and the internals are from a 350 so if you want to bore it the parts are commonplace and cheap. it can be stroked if you get froggy as well. btw nice iroc rim score too!

yeah was going to say that also. i don't think it was year specific just the vortec 4.3. it will start as a rough idle and turn into a partial miss. my grandma had to have 2 put in a 700 a pop. other well know problems are upper and lower ball joints go bad quick, idler arms also wear out quick, trannies don't hold up do to lack of mantaince. if it starts slipping or not shifting right then just look for another, more towards the 2wds than 4wds. also intake gaskets like to fail on those they usually rot out at the drivers side front corner leaking down the front of the block. some have problems with push button 4 wheel drive. the actuator will go bad and cause it to get stuck in 4wd. those are the most common problems with those besides rust. just thought i would give you a heads up since you asked. and don't take what i said as an insult all vehicles have there problems. as long as the above stuff is taken care of or is not a factor then you have one heck of a blazer that will perform excellant. i'm a little rusty on my s-series facts but they consider that the ho 4.3 to. meaning it out performs all the other 4.3 they produced with a good bit more torq and horsepower. good to see you now have a dd.

so this is the HO?> i actually read that on a website that there was a HO but i didnt know if it was mine. cool. shes def got torq. big diff from driving the cavy lol. you know it does kinda have a rough idle not all the time but sometimes. i will be doing a tranny flush, oil change, new plugs etc here soon just to be on the safe side as he couldnt tell me the last time he changed the plugs. however he had documents on all oil changes at pep boys and were all on time. as well as had a new starter put it. ill def keep my eye on those things you listed above man. i dont take it as an insult, thats what i was wanting to hear from others. thanks for all the info man i def appreciate it.!!

shoulda gotten a 5 speed......

hard to find in the blazers, but they are out there. t5 = indestructable.

I gots me some leatehr buckets from one....still looking for a console.

But it is my beater, but i still throw some parts at it......I cant drive an off the shelf car.

But the amount of time and money i put into it is drastically reduced.
