Hello,
i just recently bought a honda prelude with the h23 motor or the vtec i know i do know its a 2.3, im just curious if this car has about 233k miles runs perfect no missing, rattling etc... would it be worth putting any money into it. its got about 1200 dollar set of wheels and good low profile tires, about 400-500 cd player and the color is gold very nice paint job. would it be working tuning up a little like more torgue chip, bodykit etc...
i really appreciate your opinions, i bought the car cheap and wanted to put some money into the rest of the body and motor to make it a show car its not going to always be my daily driver, im just going to drive it around mostly on the weekends and go to some car shows. ive got some money to buy the kits and stuff just interested in all you amazing j-body members helping me out this is the first place i came for help cause i know you all know how to get the job done and right. thank you all and god bless.
if you got money to burn.....
do it.
those cars will run forever with little maintinence. Just make sure you change the timing belt at the recomended intervals.
h23 doesn't have vtec.
H22 does and I BELIEVE I remember from back in my 'lude days that the head from the H22 can be swapped to the H23 with a little work... Given the mileage if you're going to do anything serious you may as well swap a full JDM H22 powertrain (engine/trans assembly) first and go from there. I really wouldn't bother putting any money into performance stuff unless you have an actual power/performance goal in mind, and especially if you plan on keeping the current high-mileage engine and trans. I'm assuming its a stick? Cuz if its an auto forget any performance ambitions you may have had.

sounds like he wasnt thinking performance mods anyways.
modding anything with 233k on it isnt a good idea. that would be just a good commuter car
i'd upgrade the suspension before anything!

the h22's have a tendancy to take a @!#$ dive after 200km. Burning oil... typical Honda stuff. (This is from expereince). The h23's are not much better. I say just daily drive it.

I say just give it one hell of a tune up and drive it. Most all Preludes I have seen don't seem very forgiving to body kits and such. Those cars seem to really beat the hell out of them. The motor you have in their now had I think 160 crank HP from the factory.
