Project Chop Job

I figured I'd give an update on Chop Job, since I did get to do a little work on it. Hopefully, I'll have it finished in a couple weeks.

I got the new handgrips on. The wiring for the turn signals turns out to be fried, I found on Saturday. So I'll be rewiring it so I can get the bar end turn signals to function. I'm having a spade lasered out at work for the '29 Ford tail light and plate to mount on so I can get rid of the trashy plate bracket I have on there now. I'll be finishing off the frame ends as well. The of course I need to repair the side covers and install the seat the correct way with the springs underneath (no rear suspension sucks in PA)

But So far I did manage to get the new grips on the bike and partially wired, got the new front tire on, and replaced the master cyl for the front brake. And I also trimmed the seat pan a bit to fit the frame better. And last but certainly not least, I got the GPS speedo wired up and fabbed the bracket for it so it would project onto the tank (see pic)

Some red pinstriping would be nice on there as well, yea?

Enough talk, here's pics!

I'll get more pics up as work progresses. I can't wait to get the new tail light on!

It's oh so cheesey!

Not a bad start at all. I'd really love a project like that...

Anyway, I think it'll look good once the other tail light is on. The only other major thing I'd change is to get a seat that fills that seat pan or at least do some metal work to make that seat look like it belongs there more. It just seems to out of place at the moment.

Keep us updated!

Yea, I gotta do something about that I agree. I keep changing my mind about what I'll actually do though. I'm gonna hold off on that until I actually have the seat mounted the correct way with the springs under it first.

I was actually thinkin the same thing about the seat. And is that the oil bag taped on? Love the overall look though, and I can't wait to see the tail light.

You know I love it man !!!

Not everyone is going to appreciate a bike like this, but they are just awesome motorcycles and a blast to ride !!

I am looking for a seat very similar to that for mine, but without the springs. I still have the springs on my swingarm, so I don't need to be bouncing all over the place.. The only thing I'm having trouble with, I would like to keep the seat hinged, so I still have access to the battery & fuses. I'd also like a document holder under there as well... Any suggestions ??

I don't mean to post jack- but I dont know anyone else w/ a bike like this..

They're just battery covers, and yes, for now they are taped on. I have to epoxy the clips back on so it'll stay without the tape. I also have to weld new tabs on the frame because they somehow went missing after the seat pan was made.....hmmmmmm.

ah OK. Like I said though, definitely a good loooking bike. I also think it would look pretty cool with the exhaust wrapped, even though the exhaust is nowhere near your legs...

It's actually the frame I want pinstriped. I know that's kind of odd, but I'm really into keeping it clean with very subtle touches with striping. I was thinking of having a little stripe work done where the neck meets the downtubes and backbone on either side, as well as some stripe work on the spade I'm gonna mount the new tail light on. I was even playing with the idea of putting a red pinstripe around the edge of the rims to break up all the black. I tried stripping and polishing the rim lips, but I didn't really like it, so I repainted them black.
