They have the same basic design as my wheels
6lb a wheel is seriously bad ass though!

im curious to see how well those will hold up as well.
Im sure if they are tested and end up being strong enough and actually sell, they will make nicer designs.
I jsut couldnt see myself spending 12gs on a set of 17s(or looks like 17s) with such a basic design that u can get the same wheel in aluminum for like $500 a set!

those are for 1 purpose...going fast
I'd hate to see what a pothole or curb would do to those.

KABOOOOM! poof... "where did my wheel go?"
Those were debuted at the last SEMA show I agree I bet those aren't going to be great for daily driving. However it made me think about paying CF over some wheels just for the look.

what makes you think that they aren't strong enough to sustain road use? You guys are confusing these things with your cheap ass hoods and bumpers. These are not made using resin, as the resin is what breaks for you guys, not the material. carbon fiber is one of the strongest materials on the planet, and may hold up better then your beloved steel wheels
Retarted wheels.. Just look cool

screw the wheels.....i want that mouse pad

I am not saying they aren't strong enough I just am saying that wheels take a lot of wear and tear. Steel is durable I just don't know how durable dry laid carbon is.

I spoke with a company who had them last year at SEMA (when I was there
). The wheels they had was a CF rim with magnesium center spokes, bolted together.
I started talking with the engineers and I was finally able to break through to him and get him to talk to me on a high level (I'm also an engineer) about the different types of forces that occur on the wheel. Basically, if it's done right, its awesome stuff man.
The way they wrap the CF on the wheel is a specific process that he wouldn't tell me how his specific company did it, but this isn't your everyday hand-laid CF hood. This is done to extreme precision and pressure by highly sophisticated machinery. He showed me a wheel that was chewed up (the rim had small chunks missing, and the magnesium spokes cracked at the hub). I asked it where it came from, and he said that the Porsche GT3 was on the track, flew off, rolled a few times, and did a few other things. The wheel was the nicest thing preserved from the car.
If done correctly, these CF wheels are the real deal. Don't try it at home.

I'd like to take a @!#$ on that cf toilet.
I just came, then started looking for my credit card.
Then I cut it up before I did anything seriously irrational.
Lol

haha, i saw that too, that would be badass.
Forumula 1 cars don't even use carbon fiber wheels. I think the wheels and tires on the car are the only thing not carbon fiber.
Honestly I don't see at a benefit in racing that much, considering it not a simple process of making the wheels, nor cheap. I also don't think it can handle the amount of force a wheel takes, especially in an accident. Rather than the wheel just rolling away it'd probably explode and send carbon fiber shards in the air. I a tire looses pressure and whell comes in contact with ground, it just explode too. Aluminum, and magnisium will just bend and give more than carbon fiber would.
I will say they look awesome though.

Reading skills lacking, Frank?
And, no, everything ON the CF would crack and break and whatever, the CF would just kinda flop about similar to the plastic sheeting in a windshield. You miss the fact that CF is one of the strongest materials we have ever made, and is very flexible in it's natural woven form, with nothing soaked into it. All and all, you are some sort of 100% wrong. Sorry FrankO
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

well I guess they are.
So what reason do you think racing teams in any form of motorsport aren't using them? I do remember a discussion during a F1 race about honda wanting to use carbon fiber internals, I don't remember the what was actually said, it was I think at least 2 years ago, but during the discusion they talked about carbon fiber wheels too.
