2009 Mazda MX-5

The engine line-up remains unchanged: It won’t be 2012 until there will be an all-new MX-5, which company executives promise will have "more balls".

more balls and bigger headlights to fit the bloated front view would be nice. These are still SOOOOO ugly from the front.

It's amazing how small tweaks can make a big difference. I loved the old look, but this update makes them look more agressive...i love it.

Obviously the Honda, the Miata wasn't in the Fast and Furious! Johnny Tran would never drive that girl's car

-miata isn't even close in the power and response area. of course i haven't driven an 09 miata, but the 07 i think it was that i did drive felt pokier than my cav. the s2k feels extremely fast compared to that car.
-looks are a toss up, you like one or the other but the miatas look smaller and more round than the s2k.
-handling by far goes to the s2k, throw decent tires on the stock suspension and it feels better than most cars w/modded suspenion. the miata i drove was sloppy and i didnt feel like i could push it in the corners all that hard
-the s might not have as many options/amenities idk but its more of a race/performance car than the miata will ever try to be

all this is my opinion so please don't get offended if you like the miata, they have come a long way i'll admit, i just prefer our s2k anyday to the miata

The hood is totally reppin the 90-97 miata. I still dislike the new models. I want my miatas to be tiny.

This car is so much better thought out then the Kappa twins, now it looks better then both too.
I would say may be the Kappa will be better engineered on the 2nd gen, but there won't be any.

I would argue that looks are always subjective, but both the miata and the solstice are "timeless" looks, one classic roadster (miata) and one a bit more exotic. The sky is the black sheep being a bit more modern and sharp yet forgettable.

As far as engineering, this is a classic case of japanese flare vs US brute force. The miata pulls more fun factor out of a smaller less powerful engine and efficient drivetrain, but the kappa (gxp and redline anyways) still best it with raw power. As a gxp owner, I can say that the platform is very much at home on a racetrack. The handling is world class, and it should be on this "mini-vette" platform.

It's all a matter of opinion anyways, and i agree that its a shame that a second gen kappa is unlikely.

The S2000 definitely looks better. I think this car would look much better if the hood came down to the headlights, but it looks better than the last model before this. Still, its just riding on RX8's coat tails me thinks.

With the MX-5 you get a trunk with the top down. Kappas can only dream of that engineering.

And the third most populated homosexual community here in the US drive BMWs, Mercedes, Audi and VW. German cars = Gay here.
Miatas and MX-5 are used for grass roots road racing tracks here, I dunno any where else.
