Can a Power Mirror Drain a battery?
Tuesday, September 30, 2008 6:59 AM
G/f's Saturn ION's passanger mirror got busted off on Saturday. Just the plastic housing but all the wiring and mirror was still in tack.

All of a sudden last night it wouldn't start. Dealer says this morning that the MIRROR drained the battery.

I have never heard of such a thing. The wires where never shorted, how could the mirrors have power when the car is off.

They are charging her $400 for a mirror and battery.....

Mirror - from Saturn Parts is only $135 band new, i found many used cheaper
Battery- well normal cost there.

Still not $400 WTF!

I had a short in the seat belt sensor(controls the light in the cluster) in my old car and that was enough of a parasitic drain to cause my battery to die. So it could be possible.

Just buy a mirror and a battery and change them yourself, its not hard.
