Question on the clay bar. What exactly is that supposed to do? I clayed my Miata a few weeks ago for the hell of it. I had a lot of stuff coming off onto the clay, but overall I couldn't see any difference in the shine of the car, which I'm assuming is the reason to clay. I will say that it did take off a lot of what appeared to be tree sap on my trunk.

Clay bar removes paint contaminants. It doesn't make your car look better. However, it does make your car a TON smoother to the touch. It's more or less a way to help make your paint last over the years by keeping it free of paint damaging contaminants that can also lead to minor rusting under the paint.

^Thank you for the clarification. How often should it be done? That was the first time I've ever even done it. It wasn't hard to do; knowing now that it's helpful I'll have to make it part of my routine.

No carbon fiber, its getting a few mod mods but nothing major. A couple very minor body mods. Beyond that the only thing still planned is a stereo. I'm gonna keep the stock head unit and get something along the lines of a JL Clean sweep, from there a nice quaility amp with a set of componets with some good midbass in the front doors and stock speakers in the rear with some bass blockers on them, let them get a little more volume without distorting. No subs, nothign crazzy. I just want some more clean clear volume.

As for the clay bar, eternal explained it right, it cleans the surface of the paint more then washing it ever could and it pulls small contaniments out of the paint. It wont make the actual paint shinier but it will bring out the shine that is already there. How often should it be done? Depends. When washing it wont get the car clean clay bar will. Also if you wax your car alot like I do you'll want to do it alittle more often. I've done it 3 times now I got the car in march, clay bar will remove old wax residue. you basically spray the car with wipe and shine and scrub it with the clay bar. Simple but a little time consuming. It sounds like you need to buff/polish the car, that actually shaves the top coat of the paint off leaving the nice undamaged paint below the surface as the new top, it'll look liek a new car, that will get rid of small scrtaches and swirl marks and leave it looking nice.

very nice man, I love the car! Its super clean. Do the make projector headlights for those things? I think it'd look hot...

im not so sure about it 'taking a layer of paint off'. ive clay barred my entire car at least once a month for 3 years now (during the nice weather) and my paint looks just like the day i bought it.

it needs a black lip, but im biased!
