The car looks beautiful IMO, just price it at $25K and I will buy it, I don't care if it does10-20 real world miles on a charge.
The car will travel 40 miles (GM says) on electric power alone, as the Volt carries a battery pack made up of 220 lithium-ion cells. The pack generates 16 kilowatt hours of electricity. It can be recharged in about three hours when plugged into a 240-volt line, or about eight hours with a 120-volt line.
- The four-passenger Volt has a top speed of 100 mph. Its electric motor cranks out 273 lb-ft of torque and the equivalent of 150 hp.
- The interior includes a driver-configurable liquid-crystal instrument display, seven-inch touch-screen information display, touch-screen-style climate and infotainment controls, an optional navigation system with onboard hard drive, and Bluetooth connection technology.
- The chassis includes an independent MacPherson strut suspension in front and a compound crank twist axle in the rear, four-wheel disc brakes with full regenerative capability, and electric power steering.
- Here are the dimensions: Wheelbase, 105.7 inches; overall length, 177.0 inches; width, 70.8 inches; height, 56.3 inches; cargo volume, 10.6 cubic feet.
GM says its plans to build the Volt in its Hamtramck assembly plant in suburban Detroit, but it is still negotiating with governments for incentives to convert the plant. GM says it will begin Volt production in late 2010.

@!#$ SEXY! Looks kinda like a TL or TSX
looks MUCH better than all the concepts and teasers ive seen. the rear looks wierd, but overall i kinda like it.
* * BIG FOR SALE POST * *
i like everything about it except the back. I sure hope GM makes this and sticks to the mpg that they are claiming. This would help GM out quite a bit.
Sexy now rip out all that electric crap and put a 350 in it
God bless that thing is SEXAAAYYY!!!!
Blargh. Looks like the illegitimate lovechild of a Vibe/Matrix and an Aztek. That back end gets to me especially, though I'm not a fan of the rest of it either.

I would and hopefully will rock the @!#$ out of one of these when they come out. However, 40k is a bit too much for me to swing, so I'm hoping for a lower price too. That or another company with better hybrid rep will step up and have a full electric car by the time I'm ready to buy one.
What about the 2 door coupe ? IS it still on the boards ?
My Cav
I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
How long before someone drops an LSx in it?
Why???? ^^^^^^^^^^ I fail to see the point of doing this.
the center console area looks goofy but thats not enough to deter me from buying one as long as its not 40k
i think a turbo LE5 would do that thing some good!!!
I think, like any car, it isn't 100% perfect aesthetically. But I definitely like the car as a whole, a lot!
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

It only travels 40 miles on one charge? So, wait, is this a completely electric-only car or does it have help from a gas engine? The concept of an all electric car is amazing but seriously they better up that mileage somehow or it will be outsold by the
Model S by Tesla.
um if its out sold by a car with at least $20k higher sticker price, then the range is not the reason
It has an onboard generator that come on when the batteries are around 20%. The generator powers the electric motor, but does not recharge the batteries.
That's at least what I have read on it, going off memory so it may not be 100%.
Black roof FTW!
Thats a nice looking ride.
Best looking Chevy in a looooooooooong time IMO. It's about time they made something that doesn't look dated by the time it came out. And yet it still has YEARS to go before they come out....poo poo again. I put the looks on par with the current Civic, which in a few years will no doubt look old. Granted it's not a car I see being bought for looks. This would be perfect for me because I'm only 6 miles from work, but it'll no doubt cost way too much to make it worth my purchase.
Looks like a Civic. And that gear shifter is gayer than ghey!!!!

yeah they stole that one from my car grrr
anyways i really like the car over all. however the interior reminds for some reason of 1980's toys lol
i think if they sell the car for right around 30k i think they will have a huge winner. i think pricing is key
The center console won't come in just white, other color's shall be available as well.

you gotta be kidding right ? can you not read or see the pics ?
it has a gas motor , that charges up the batteries , the gas motor does NOT power the wheels
