Couple changes on the STI

No major new modifications. I did however pick up a Seibon cw carbon fiber hood, and completely removed all emblems and logos I like the cleaner look and wouldn't mind people thinking it's a wrx.

Front and rear swaybars have been ordered just awaiting delivery!

Just a few new pics :

with that hood that now doesnt direct air in, dont you need a front mount? i mean, not NEED, but wouldnt it be more efficient? lol.... im not feeling the hood completely, but i love STis and the whole debadging, wheels, and wrx spoiler so much that i can look past it.

So I take it doesn't rain in your area?
I had hood vents installed in my cherokee, but mine have removable drip pans.

Thanks for the comments and incite =)

The hood will be blue eventually (sun seems to "yellow" carbon hoods after a couple years). I hated the stock STI wing, and the hood scoop always looked stupid to me. Research on numerous STI forums i learned how inadequate and ineffecient the stock scoop/ top mount really is. My car actually runs cooler with this hood I feel the front vents allow alot more in as compared to the standard hood, however I have only driven the car about 30 mins with it on, and havent driven it since.

I am MOST DEFINITELY putting a front mount on at Harmon Motive when they install my swaybars once they arrive. I daily drive a equinox so this is always in the garage anyway, which it will stay until the sways, front mount go on =)

After the sways and front mount are installed, I plan on then saving for RCE/KW coil-over suspension. They will take about 3 months of hard saving to work for but I want to do everything right on this car and they are the ones to get. Sh-ts expensive!!

I have decided on the Perrin front mount intercooler.

I will keep you posted, thanks again JBO.

Yeah, the stock Top-mount is a bitch for heat soak, better to get the FMIC asap, even if you're not using it for DD.

The top scoop doesn't do much for me either, but it does look distinctive.

yeah i definitely do not like the hood

and when you said that you removed all emblems were you refering to the STI emblems?

i mean it does still have the front suby emblem that is why i ask

i like your sig better than the current.... i agree, i too hate the sti wings and love the clean look but the hood does not go with the clean theme well at all.

suprisingly there are alot of guys that make big power with larger top mounts instead of going front mounted... cuts down on lag too as you don't have all the piping to pressurize.

IMO, unless you've upgraded the turbo, it probably isn't worth stepping up to a front mount... (unless of course you are building for a bigger turbo)

personally, if I had an STI, I'd want everyone to know its an STI, not think its a WRX.

I appreciate everyone's opinion, but nothing looks worse/ more tacky then the stock hood scoop. Everyone in person, especially the suby club here love the hood, it does look better in person. The first time I saw this hood it was on a white one and painted white to match, they do look better color matched. You can put the stock scoop back on this hood ( it will fit if you decide to go back to the scoop) however I feel that once color matched it will look alot better. From the side the scoop doesn't pop up and look as goofy, painted will further prove my point.

I like it, that's all that matters =) Im sure once the headlight housings are painted black and the hood is blue alot of you will change opinions =)

98z24ragtop-- The STI logos are PINK!!! The car looks much better and cleaner without them, and yes i do like it when people pull up next to me thinking it's just a wrx.....

I'll keep ya posted!

Thinking it's a lesser car IS good when toolbags want to rev at you at stoplights, or when you hit the track. But personally... From looking up parts and stuff for my buddies Subie and working on his... All the Pink suspension and stiffening parts, and the pink STi emblems... I like. Sorry, I don't have a big "omg the emblems are pink, SOOO girly" stigma... I get the whole "that is what people know as the subaru performance color, so be it.. I also feel the same about the scoop, sure like I said, I like the whole "sleeper" feel about racing people or morons at stop lights, BUT The scoop is iconic to turbo'd Subaru's and I don't think anyone can say it looks terrible.... Different taste though, just like the hood. Get pics when it is painted, because I love Subies just the same

people that know subarus will still know it's an sti... (brembos, rear vane spoiler, flat rear wheel arches, etc) but the majority should mistake it for the lesser.

p.s. it's not pink... it's cherry blossom red

I like the STi's... love your friends body kit and front mount, hood isn't terrible.... BUT it goes to show you guys taking something AWD with horsepower and not going off road with them. That makes me a little sad.

In my book an STi should stay stock, bodywise of course.

i think i just messed my pants from the pics of your friends car...

but honestly, the hood you have is completely different from his hood.... its the areas on the sides of the hood that ruin it; not the direction of the scoop..

Looks okay, but not my bag. I'd rock the OEM style carbon hood. Your choice though, and regardless of the style, weight savings are weight savings. And it's worth mentioning just like everyone else so far pretty much has said: Get a front mount intercooler.

I love STI's. I do. I love their look stock, stock hood scoop, stock wing on the trunk.

I like your STI too. But i can't stand the hood. Seriously. Hate the hood. It's not necessarily the top vent. It's the front vents on the sides. Like..... what exactly is their purpose? And don't say "cooling", because i won't believe you. They look out of place, but the center vent looks ok.

I do like that you have the WRX spoiler on it too. Kind of tones down the look of the car. But anyone who knows STI's will realize its truth by the subtle things you can't change that were mentioned above (the top spoiler above the rear window, and the good brakes).

I like it a lot for what it is.... But i wouldnt want to look at that hood.
