So I finally found a 1980 Pontiac Trans Am pace car on the web again. Thank god this one actually has the original 4.9 L turbo motor with it. It needs a some bit of work but it's gonna be a beautiful car once it's done. I will post pictures as soon as the car arrives at my shop.
I will keep all you guys posted on how the project goes and will post pictures when I have them.
Steve
still have the turbo hood with digital gauges?
The car is totally original =D Yes to the turbo hood and I don't know about the gauges but I believe so
I'm not sure... It was an Ebay car so we will see when it gets to my garage. I'll let you know when I do
they arent gauges , its just 3 lights , they light up similar to the gtps with the display on the dic
love the 80 pace cars
That is pretty neat!. I want to see pictures.
nice! thats a badass find

Yeah I already built one pace car but it doesn't have the turbo hood or the 4.9L turbo... I put a fully modded engine in it instead. If you want I will post a pic of the other build... Just let me know.
Sweet, post up some pictures when you get it home.

Good job. Big improvement over your last time. I still think you can shave alot off your time with tweakin the chassis set up.
P.S. It isn't all motor you have a blower.

You never think any V8 is fast because you don't educate yourself...... BUT, I am pretty sure he has like a blown 383? I forget, it's in his other thread about that car.

JLAudioCavalier: No unfortunately i forgot to bring the camera with me so I don't have any vids. I will next time though.
Harrington (Fiber Faber): Yeah it is definatelya big improvement. A little more tweaking will definately go a long way though. AND it is all motor. The only engine picture I have hosted right now is the old blown 355 motor. I am currently running a CSB 400 bored to 434.
Rodimus Prime: There are still faster ones out there. But this can still be better. I'm working on that for next year lol. When I get home I will try to take some time and put all the info on here for the engine work that has been done.
JLAudioCavalier: Nah your thinking of the blown 355. That was an old engine that we took out and put into a '72 Chevy El Camino.
You would be surprised about what i know about fbodys pretty much all i did in my teenage years was study every aspect of them, its just common knowledge that most cars in the early 1980s era werent really that fast
The code T turbo was only rated at 210whp at 9psi with a 7:5 compression and a impressive 345lbs of tq

Thats true to a very big point. They were not fast vehicles STOCK. As you tune them and upgrade them they became demons on the street and strip
kinda like a pre grand national
