Chevy Silverado with 1,000,000 mile original engine up for sale. I know the existence of the truck is old news, but look at the minimum bid! GM should buy this one back and put it in a museum somewhere.

This guy only lives about a half hour from me. There was a story in the local paper. He always had the oil changed at the local service station where I live. It made daily trips to Chicago and back which is how he racked up the miles. The truck is actually in pretty good shape too.

Over $1 million for a 1930's Dusenberg?

It's obviously not going to be for daily use, it's going to be a show-piece.

And if it's frozen seafood, I doubt it would smell.

Apples to oranges my friend. I will bet you $20.00 the Duesenburg did not have 1,000,000 miles on it, not to mention the fact that is in a condition on par with or better than factory condition. Not to mention the fact that they only made a little over 1,100 of these cars in total, not just one year but over the life of the company. How many 1991 Chevy Sliverados were made? Probably over 100,000?

1930 Duesenburg = quality car, collectors dream
1991 Chevy Sliverado with 1,000,000 miles = worn out piece of poo

P.S. It is Duesenburg not Dusenburg

1930 Duesenberg: A duesy wouldn't make it to 1,000,000 miles without a TON of engine work, a carriage maker, an upholsterer, and several other people taking care of the car, let alone driving it in the winter.
1991 Silverado with 1,000,000 miles: worth a lot less, takes less maintenance from people you don't have to pay an arm and a leg to, can be driven in the winter, and hit 1,000,000 miles on the same engine.

You tell me where the quality is. My great grand-dad had a Duesy (he owned a gravel quarry and a grain mill), and it wasn't all it was cracked up to be: after you factor in the body that had to be made by a local carriage maker, the car cost more than 2 houses, and that being said, it didn't run well without constant (figure a transmission tear down every 20,000 miles, oil every 2000 on the dot, engine teardown and inspection/rebuild at 30K) maintenance. Granted, he crashed his in a swamp in about 1932, and left it there for 25 years until someone pulled it out and restored it.... but that's beside the point!!! Either way, I've never heard of a Duesenberg hitting 1M miles(I haven't even heard of one breaking 250K), but there are plenty of Chevy's that have.

Haha thats crazy, a friend of mine has a 01 silverado with a 5.3 that has 420,000 all original drivetrain. He said that when it hits 1 million then he'll get rid of it lol.

Original engine, but on it's 5th transmission? GM, you're doing it wrong.

60 + years of technology will always help with durability.

91 was a good year for GM. My mom has a 91 Blazer Tahoe with over 300k on it. Original motor (4.3), tranny, rear end. Only a radiator, 2 water pumps, brakes, alternator, and AC compressor, and shocks.

My dads 91 cheyenne was a 2wd 4.3 5spd that was overloaded every day of its life. Original tranny went at 200k, so we threw a junkyard th350 in it. Went to 450 till it needed a headgasket and my dad got rid of it. Still ran though, his replacement truck died after only 160k miles, his new one has 140k. GM doesnt make cars that run like a gem for a few hundred thousand like toyota or honda, but they will run like crap forever!

My 91 chevy pickup's cel comes on about 20 minutes after startup, almost religously. I can't pull a code from it cause every time you shut the truck off it goes away! My brake light never goes off and the ebrake isn't pulled and its fluids are topped off. Sometimes in traffic the engine will surge. But she is a tank and runs great otherwise!

Exhaust leak at the Y-pipe, 4th tranny, 2nd fuel pump, 10th alternator (napa rebuilds), 4th starter. Original A/C. A lil rot over the rear wheel wells. Burns a lil oil. @!#$ty headlights, half the time I forget to turn them on, but I don't notice it. I can actually see my shadow in my headlights from the truck behind me with them ON! lol!
