This SO deserved it's own thread!
Monday, June 30, 2008 10:48 PM
Well in my travels delivering antiques to rich yuppies, sometimes I meet someone cool. Now, I really don't feel right saying who it is, because I ended up getting a rough idea of who he was, although he was VERY timid to say so. But he has a very very avid history in open wheel racing... and unfortunately, I don't know any way to blur out license plates in vid, so you can't experience the pure sex of the thing running/revving. BUT here are some pics of a 1 of 350 ever built 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Edition. (the 63 would stand for the 6.3 Litre V8 it houses under the hood )
(sorry for the 2mp cam phone. my camera died yesturday)

and his other toy, that has seen 120mph+ many times...

No. He was German. And if someone guessed it right(although I don't think he is as famous of a person in the industry as say Andretti is, so it won't be an issue lol)

And why would you have to blur out the plate? Is this car not driven on the streets? Obviously it is, otherwise there would be no need to even have a plate on the car.

It is a 6.2L.

Bluring out the plate is done because you can get the VIN from the state DMV, and register a lein on the car.

It is a 6.3 L I believe...that is one hell of a car...

Too bad you couldn't say who it was that owns that beast.

I've never been a big merc fan either, but those new C-Class cars...whoo...one fine looking automobile

I would rather see more pictures of the go-cart.

I do not see the big deal about the plate either. As long as it is legal, or he is allowed to show the car off whats the big deal? If it was soo easy to issue a lean against someone's car then everyone would have one, because people would get your VIN number in the parking lot of the store.

you need proof of ownership to get a lien
and a vin wouldnt be enough at all

Sad & pitiful that a owner doesn't know the car they own isn't?
Manufacture puts 6.3L for a different reason.
BTW 6204CC = 6.2L not 6.3L.

"Manufacturer puts 6.3L for a different reason."

Enlighten me on that, because I really would like to know why they would lie on such a beautifully refined vehicle. That kinda bugs me a bit.

And as for the plate thing, like I said... The guy was pretty clear about not getting into detail about what he did, or who he was and all that fun stuff. So I'm not going to take it upon myself to give a piece of information to everyone that they could just look up and find out a bunch of that info. It might sound stupid, but I guess it is just a little bit of respect on my part.

Mercedes-Benz pays tribute to the original mid 1960's Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3, so they slap the badge almost on every AMG today.

Power: Oh, yeah. As with other recent AMG offerings, the CLK Black Series is propelled by the new AMG 6.2-liter aluminum V-8. In this application, a special set of exhaust headers and revised engine management raise output from 475 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque to 500 and 478, respectively.
