Wrangler? Mileage? Hah!
I don't own a Wrangler, but both my father and brother do, and just from hearing them talk, good luck.
I've always liked them though, I just wish I had the money for a secondary gas eater.

I dont own one, but i have heard that the larger tires would eat up trannys on Jeeps.

-Richmond ROD 6-speed(will get sometime)
-Posi 12-bolt(built w/eaton posi unit and richmond 3.73 gears)
-Disc brake and 5 lug swap
+little extras
we own a 02 4.0...its got 4 inches of lift with 33's and it gets about 16-18 mpg..so good luck..bigger tires just kill the mpg..
I have an 02 with 3.73 gears, 2inch BB, and 31inch super swampers. I got around 16-18mpg like stated above. Needless to say with the rising gas prices I have put my stockers back on and it has helped a bunch.
Things you should get I would say is a bikini top and soft doors.
The first thing I think any jeep/4x4/off-roader should get is a winch, and a lesson on how to properly use it. You can have the biggest lift, most ponies, and the biggest tires, but you are still goign to get stuck, or you will find an obstical that you can't get over without the rope
I have a 92 YJ with 150k or so on it. Its rolling on stock tires right now and ive gotten 20mpg highway. I have a set of 4.10's from a 4 banger if i ever get around to lifting it
women are like cars you have to test drive the new one before you trade in the old one
My mother sold her YJ about a year ago. She had an 03 "X" model in bright yellow. 4.0L, 5spd, 4x4, 3" lift, 3" chrome rail bumpers and Nerf bars, headlight shatter guards, M/T 16" aluminum wheels, 31" tires.....and a Sponge Bob spare cover xD
Also, she was averaging about 18-21mpg with her setup and a very dirty Delco air filter.
I can't wait to get my Jeep

Whatever you do.....
Get the lift either before or at the same time as you get bigger wheel/tires. There is nothing more stupid looking than a poseur driving a bone stock wrangler with huge 32's or 33's crammed in the wells. With out articutaltion (that comes from lift) those tires are a waste. And just killing your daily MPG with no real trailing improvement benefits. And it looks really ghey when the tires barely fit your truck anyway....it screams i know nothing about off roading. Also don't skimp, If your getting a lift and 32 inch or 33 inch tires all around don't forget the spare. Too many people shrug that off, but you'll kick yourself if you ever get a flat.
Also that was an awesome suggestion to get a winch. If you do plan to do some off roading you would really benefit A LOT from this one tool. Along with a hi-jack tall trail jack. Also with a wrangler do whatever you can do to get one peice hard doors. The half doors are awesome in the summer when the top is down but for bad weather and daily driving the vinyl zip up windows will make you crazy.
Invest in the soundbar speaker system they offer that puts speakers on the roll bar just over your head....you'll thank go you did. If you want to really spoil your self get the sub woofer/locking armrest
