So i just bought a used 1999 pontiac grand am se. The former owner decided they wanted to caulk the rear windows shut as well as disable the motor to those windows. I managed to get the caulking out, but how would i go about enabling the power to the windows again?
Well have you checked the plugs to the window motors?
the best way to check would be take off the door panels and trace the wirers from the motor. i bet as soon as you get the panel off you will find plugs hanging.
ok i understand somewhat why they did that , but isnt there a lockout button by the driver to lockout use of the windows for the passengers?
if the op missed the lockout button i dont think he/she could have got the caulk out of the window.
i think you misunderstood my post. why would the owner before the op caulk the windows and disable the switches when all they would have to do is hit the lock out button.
maybe they were super paranoid that if the window ever was rolled down they couldn't get it back up, so maybe that's why they disabled the rear doors. The caulking,.....that' makes no sense.....unless they had a big system and it was rattling the glass????

or maybe the most obvious reason was because it leaks
Or.. you know... the previous owner was a dumb-ass.
i already checked the plugs, and i believe that the previous owner of the car was a parol officer. There are also two holes in the dash, and a little change compartment is torn out. I think my biggest clue was the .40 cal bullets i found in the trunk though.
