I think thats the most pathetic thing that someone has ever done to a car. I would drive a hot pink Aveo before a "donk"

You know, I'm a live and let live dude and I'll allow that lowriders are cool, but Donks are retarded. They're expensive and pointless. The guys who make this take a 500$ car and put about 10 trillion dollars into them. The only good thing I can say about it is that in about ten years we'll still be able to find some fairly cherry Caprices because of these guys. Sort of like how you can still find some very very nice Pro Street Volares.

hmmm... guess same thing can be said for people who modify cavaliers or basically moding cars in general. not everyone is going to like it but so what, its what the person likes

Nonono... modified J bodies are still cars, even wild show cars (for the most part) are still cars. But Donks are just these retarded "things" built for guys (because these so-called "men" know about as much as about cars as Star Trek geeks know about science, and couldn't get the stuck toast out of a toaster...) with the mentality of a 2 year old who doesn't get enough attention at home. A Donk is like wearing MC Hammer parachute pants, it looks stupid, but people stare at you so you get to be the center of attention until someone comes up with an even stupider idea.

It's cars like this that are killing the hobby. Instead of spending their time coming up with cool, ingenious ideas, carmakers have to cater to the whims of idiots with lots of money. It's very sad.

These cars require some kind of work. You can't tell me 30's are bolt on. Someone built it and its there's to enjoy. Personally I wouldnt put down 5k for wheels but to each their own. And I believe they're still cars. They do fall under the defintion 4 wheels, a motor, etc.

I spent a week in New Orleans its worlds away from Ohio in cars and designs. When here you'd see a Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins Dual sitting on 8 inches of lift and mud boggers, you'll see huge wheels on almost everything. Its not just three guys in Caprices with these things. I saw everything from an Escalade to a Grand Prix to a Caddy painted like the Froste Flakes Box all sitting on 22's or bigger. It's a huge deal.

I would totally install a rope ladder to get into that thing.
Rope ladders are pimp.

PS... We got some donk and bubble cars in my area and they are NASCAR themed. Think that one over...

can you say hipocrate? how are modified jbodys still cars, but these arent? guess what, most decently built donks have a resale value of well above any jbody.

so taking a $500 car and puting alot of money into it isnt like modding a J how? please explain with all your wisdom. just because you dont like it doesnt mean no one does. oh wait...most people into cars hate Jbodys? but we like them? gee, sounds sooo differnt

seriously, you make some good points on occasion, but this is hardly one of them.

Look, the way I see it a car has to be one of four things to qualify as a "good car".

#1 - Functional (Race cars, 700hp FWD cars that actually work, cars with 2 engines, a RWD J body, ect...)
#2 - Pretty (Exotics, Clever paint job, Barris Kustom cars, rat rod...)
#3 - Interesting (Making a 1970 Chevelle SS454 limousine out of an old Malibu Sedan, an electric engine powered dragster, a sleeper Geo Metro that does the quarter in 13 seconds...)
#4 - Cool (A Pro Street showcar, a full size replica of an old Matchbox car, 70's Custom Vans..)

Anyway, you get the idea.

And yes.... Granted, this DOES leave room for Donks because some people may think they're cool or interesting. Except it doesn't because Donks are hideous. Yes, I know it's just my opinion and I know I'm generalizing all to hell, but dammit... I can't wrap my head around why Donks would be in the least bit fun while I can understand every other car "type". Like I've said, Lowriders are stupid... but they're COOL! I love them! Donks are like shaving F**K in the hair on the back of your head, they're just... ugh. And it's not the Bling factor because I think Cadillac Escalades are cool. I even like Pimpmobiles!

I know... I'm prejudiced against Donks. But it's just that ugly, useless and expensive is just something I can't possibly like. With even the most modified J, at least it can be pretty and you can drive it.

I know I'm a little bit full of it here, but I'm sticking to my guns. I'm drawing a line in the sand. NO DONKS ALLOWED!

Donk cars combine everything I hate into one fad:

Big rims
Bad choice in paint colors/schemes
Idiots behind the wheel
Show cars

Honestly, the car probably looked better when it was half rusted with granny caps in the 14" wheels, and a shade of flat dark blue. This is the reason I want to drive to california with a hammer, a barrel of gasoline and some matches.

Here is the guys competition. (No thread jackin).

Lots and lots of detail in this. I can understand how some can't find themselves to like these cars, but it's all personal taste. Also, all cars sitting high on rims are not all Donks. A Donk is a 71-76 chevy Impala or Caprice
