Drove one on monday. AMAZING car. but for 150K i would never buy a silver one. limited edition i drove #7 of 550.
check it out if you can find a decent pic of them.
not a fan of mercedes, but this car turned me around. and it had the V12 motor, which feels so happy when you nail the gas pedal to the floor. sounds damn good too.
sorry for the rant. i still get stoked thinking about it. also drove a cayenne turbo, pretty sweet ride, but nothing compared to the merc.
mercedes does make some really nice high end luxury cars.
Lexus' are 'nice' ...

And for those of us that cater to the crowd that can reasonably afford one: Mercedes Benz is the ultimate in driving refinement.

For 150K.. I'd be torn between buying this or a Lambo. I'd probably go with the Lambo because well.... .its a lambo
lol, i dont know, the mercedes was pretty slick. it sounded amazing, the only complaint i have is the stupid "roll assist" for when you are stopped at a stoplight, you dont need to keep your foot on the brake, the car wont move until you give it enough gas to get it to 1500rpms which lets off the assist and allows you to go. i tried to pull it out easy, but was slightly confused until i figured it out.
i love my job.
I will admit, Mercedes is a GREAT car but now a days, you are just paying for the star. I mean, Kia pretty much has the same options but for 1/4th of the price and I'm sure the insurance is a hell of a lot cheaper. Just my $.02

you cant really compare a kia to a benz. im sure the benz rides and handles a hell of alot nicer then a kia.

Sounds like either the brake booster is already failing, or you are feeling throttle lag, because you don't rev to 1500 to get it rolling.
And yhea you are paying for the name, the majority of them are garbage. Small instance, these SLs and some earlier yet current E-class, uses Sensotronic brakes, which are prone to fail and only leaving the front brake to the work, a waring light appears and tells you to no move the car. You press on the pedal and all it is a simulator.
Benz knew of this failure, and switch back to conventional hydraulics. Since around the world Mercedes-Benz are used like Chevys, Dodge, Fords... ie fleet use (rentals, taxi, gov't car, etc), Benz didn't want to carry the burden of fail prone brakes.
SLs are nice to look at, but if I want a real luxury car, and a name plate that is not used for garbage trucks around the world, I would drive a Maserati... a real balla' car... not a cheap made lemon commuter car with a high price tag.
ROFLOL a $55K E350 and you still get vynyl seating!!!

it didnt feel like anything was failing, idk though not my car or i would look into it or atleast question what its all about. i have felt it on a bunch of benz. all newer though i wouild most likely never own one, i would get an aston martin if i had that kind of money. maybe an XLR
That car is more than amazing! I bought 1/150... It is the one of classiest cars ever! I only paid $112 for mine... Someone wanted $150 for it? LOL..... They only come in the special silver, that's why they are called the silver arrow. And the SL550 only comes in a V8. The SL600 comes in a bi-turbo V12... So someone gave you the wrong information. The Mercedes engine will last a lifetime.... There's nothing like a Mercedes!

If you want a moderately priced Benz that is alot of fun, look into the 2002/3ish SLK 32 AMG's.
