68' bettle

My girl just got a bug as a gift from her father, and to my amazement wants to restore it, (my girlfriend hates when I talk about cars, bring them up, go do anything involving cars) so this is a great opportunity for me and her to do something together besides "dinner and a movie" and other like boyfriend/girlfriend dating things.

I also found this website all about bug parts and whatnot also located here in so-cal, and the funniest part is the name "J-bugs.com" which is only like a 3 letter difference... well maybe I just thought it was funny...

So any suggestions, or any other comments welcome...

Oh I forgot the body is in decent shape just needs new body panels and paint(for "resto" purposes, if not "resto"ing not bad shape maybe just some fresh paint), but other than that, not a ton of rust ...

Oh yeah, definitely the easiest (and cheapest) old car to restore apart from maybe a Jeep CJ7. There's so many parts for this thing that you could pretty much rebuild one from scratch with ease.

Beetle.

a very fun car. I had a '67 and loved it. You must drop in a 1600 motor and put on dual carbs. It's almost a nessecary modification these days since the stock 1300 is just not powerful enough to hang with todays speed limits. Putting in a 1600 is the difference between riding a 50cc scooter Vs. a Ninja 250.

http://thesamba.com

That an all aircooled VW website^

The only thing is 67+ is a bit more expensive to do. In 67 they went to a different suspension set up, so youd have to do coilovers all around to slam it the right way.

Pre 67 costs about 300$ to slam that ish the RIGHT way. Plus you get the mad rear camber which looks ohhh so hot.
