The new G8 GT goes rapid 060-mph time of 5 seconds flat and quarter-mile mark in only 13.5 sec.
Thats some bull! and that isnt even the GXP model.. now every Joe Shmoe and his G8 going to rocket around faster then alot of us... Thats without forced induction. I am going to have to blame the Aussies for this. Man they should have made the Sunfire GXP insisted of that crappy G6 GXP. That car is beyond ugly that stock wing and scoops that comes with it makes it look Ridiculous
Anyway thats alot of car for 29K good deal for anyone. This is going to be a VERY popular car. Considering how popular the Grand Prix was.
I've seen a couple up close, and they are truly beautiful cars. got to see a white one on the freeway a few days ago. never too keen on white cars, but the G8 is an exception.
Desert Tuners
When you come across a big kettle of crazy, its best not to stir it.
If they had a manual I'd be purchasing one ASAP, sorry GM, the deal breaker for me is the trans option.

ya, im sure there would be a bigger market for a Sunfire GXP over this car
/sarcasm
face it, J platform is dead. leave it that way
Overall I liek them except the tails
I love em and can't wait for the GXP version. I was sold on the GT model until there wasn't a 6 speed manual. I hope in a few years they will put the manual in there so I wont have to go and spend the extra 8 grand just because I want the manual. We'll see. I still love the look of the car and from the looks of it, GM finally did something right for once.
OP go cry somewhere else
the gto made 350 for the LS1 and 400 for the LS2
me im waiting for the UTE to get here

Agreed 100%. Although the reason for not offering it is lack of market, it would be incredibe to have a six speed option even with the 3.6vvt. It might also inspire some aftermarket for this engine and platform. If it's at all similar in build to its cuz the LE5, it should be one bulletproof powerplant. I'd love to see an M90 strapped to it - 500hp here we come.
Unfortunately as of now U.S. only gets six speed with the GXP for well over 30k dollars.
eh, i dunno, ive read that teamed up with that tranny the thing is that impressive

It's not so cheap when you get to the pump to pay for all that power.

i have faced it but i think you missunderstood. I was comparing sunfire gxp to G6 gxp, not G8 to Sunfire.
those cars arent even comparable
the G6 is the grand am replacement
you fail twice in the same thread
I like them, and if I wasn't financing two cars at the moment, I'd definitely would take a look into a G8 v6 as a daily driver.
I do not foresee the G8 going past 2 years of production.
Soon to be RIP.
I'm hoping the G8 will be leaps and bounds above any of the other cars discussed so far in terms of fit and finish, much like the GTO was above the FBody (fit and finish, dont crucify me please!!) I've been in a used GTO, and it really is not typical GM rattlle box stuff.
Remember this is a Holden, its austrailian, but it may as well be european.
The sunfire GXP was a nice concept, and if nissan can do the "nismo" 350z, why can't pontiac do the G6 GXP shown above? It's a preference of looks, nothing more. I think the OP was comparing what GM did release and what they could have released. The G8 is a niche market as was the GTO, but it seems like the price and execution are there for a success, this time.
at our local pontiac place they sold 4 of them right away. i seen a orange one in the body shop that the owner hit a deer. BUT a damn nice looking car and a neat orange color. I havent seen one 'up' close yet, but i will be looking.
probably will never buy one, but it seems like a nice car for the $ and the 4 door.
If my insurance company would have allowed for my lady to be insured...
Nicest grocery-getter in a really long time!

2002 Sunfire -->
- Ractive steering wheel
- ASA 17" EM9 + Nexen N5000 215/45/17 (steelies for winter)
- D-Spec Lowering kit @ 1.4" (issues currently
)
- Rockford P250.1 + MTX MZS1004 + Panasonic CQ-C8313U head unit
- Barely legal tint.
They are very nice cars, and they look good in person, but damn! Why do they have to be so big? Four thousand pounds, that's heaver than an AWD Torrent by 200 pounds... yeah, Pontiac's SUV weighs less than their "sport" sedan. Hell, that's the same weight as a Caprice or Crown Vic, and they are body-on frame, basically trucks. That's very disappointing.
I might trade the S60R in for one in a few years... if the manual is an option that is.

Why oh why?! S60R is a beautiful car.
What i love about the Austrlian cars is that they are overbuilt. Supposedly the roads down there are pretty bad, so everything in a Austalian build car is tougher by a couple notches.
My real hesitation in thinking about this car is that it's simply ugly.
Local place had 2 G8 GT's on the lot last night.
Amazing cars.
I too questioned the styling until in person.
Things that stuck out to me would be the front faschia, I loved it along with the flare on the fenders. Both very aggressive yet well played. One small thing I enjoyed was how the exterior door handles were chrome, but with body colored faces. Small things like that always bring me joy, it looked great and was a very nice touch.
I fell in love with this thing, definately not in my budget though.

You have two kidneys ... and only need one to live.
I pay cash.
I did see a dressed up one a few weeks ago. I certainly caught my eve.
I'm embarassed to admit that I am more interested in the possible UTE.
