Just a current background for those of you that don't know....
My current DD is a 05 CTS sport with the 3.6 dohc and 5spd automatic...
I love the car, and the power is decent, but really leaves me wanting more... I have been looking at all my options, and was really looking at trading up to a used CTS-V
Then comes along the G8 gt...
Spec for spec, I really am not loosing anything in bells and whistles, so I found a dealer local and decided to go check it out...
I have been reluctant in dropping back from a Caddy to a Pontiac, and the lack of a manual trans option on the GT model. But the auto shift trans seemed to have potential...
Today Shannon and I took a drive to a not so local dealer that had 3 or 4 of them in stock, and I got to take one for a drive..
All in all the car is AMAZING, build materials, and fit and finish are nice, all the places your hand touch are soft leather in the interior, the car rides as nice, if not nicer than my CTS, and It has classy yet aggressive looks...
I was really digging this car, until I laid on the right pedal.... What a disappointment!
The auto trans KILLS this car, it took FOREVER to react, and when it finally decided to start going it just didn't feel like a car that had 100 more hp than my CTS
GM is foolish for not offering the 6spd manual in this car.....
I'm going to wait and not loose all hope and wait for the GXP, but that will add at least another 6k to the tag, yes we get bigger brakes, wheels, and 40-50 more hp... But thats a big pill to swallow just to be able to shift my own gears....

id say its time to get out of that CTS especially after what that one place did to you. im sure you could pick up a nice used V.
as for the new car, few things to think about, is it worth it to sit in the car to shift the car for $6000 or just to get in the car put it in D and go. no more clutch, no more worries about that.
i mean you always have the sunfire for the manual trans and the go.
would your car payment go up much more? insurance go up more?
i just test drove a V6 one. it was really nice the inside was nice and the detail on the body was great. the dealer had it next to a bmw and the G8 had alittle more style to it. the insides where almost the same. the 3.6 was nice def didnt have a proplem geting up in speed but i think the 3.6DI would be alittle better.
Vince,
I'd be looking at leasing, so in reality my payment would go lower, and my term would be shorter than what is left on the CTS...
With the odometer approaching 60k and me realizing I still have till 2012 to pay the thing off, a short term lease to get out from being upside down might be a decent idea...
I'm not really in a hurry to do anything, was just posting my input on the car itself...
And honestly, I drove stick for years everyday, and there isnt a day I dont wish my CTS was a stick...
I dont take the highway to work, never sit in traffic, and am in the process of buying a house out in the middle of nowhere, so a fun to drive car, that happens to be nice inside is a major +
If not I'm gettting a truck and another project soooo....

didnt think there were any v6 ones yet just the 6.0 V8 one
Hmmm, well that's not what I wanted to hear. I sure hope the change their minds about a manual in the sixes.
