I know theres some people out there with S Series rides, and others with 4x4s so hopefully get some answers before taking it in to get looked at on Monday.. that way they don't try to give me bull@!#$ answers and prices.
Vehicle is a 98 Chevy Blazer 4x4 4.3L 217k on it, engine has about 128k on it.
Soon as it hit 216k it started making the noise. Best way I can describe it is to either say it sounds like metal is dragging or like a big ass marble is rolling around underneath. Only makes the noise when driving, not when idling. Yes I've checked underneath to make sure nothing was dragging, muffler and everything is still intact and holding up well. Gonna get out there tomorrow and check if theres any play in the driveshaft at all.. but I'm thinking differential or a U joint. Hoping it just needs some fluid / greasing underneath there, but I think it's beyond that point.
Any suggestions, tips, or things to look for?

Front hub bearing assembly?
Pics or it didn't happen.
Oh wait... Hey Heather!!!!
Hey there pookie!! I can take a pic of the estimate to fix it lol... $600 and that's the cheapest! 2 other places wanted $750, another $1200 and one $1400!!!
And it ended up being that my transfer case is fuxored... damn 4x4s!

I blame the Michigan potholes...it's like using your 4X4 every day....
HEh.. RWD it is!
If that's the case, you have a couple options, most likely you're going to want to rebuild it. You could also find a 4x4 or a transmission shop and see what they can do with it.
Anyhow, this same thing happened to my mom's Jimmy, and we were told that the best possible solution is maintenance and making sure you circulate the fluid in the differentials, rear is no problem, but front, you're best to use the 4x4 high option at least once/twice a month for a day or so... and not trying to climb buildings with your truck

Get it right, I only try to climb buildings every 6 months or so! lol I think the winter is actually what killed it, it was fine the first couple times I had to use the 4x4... but after that I'd get a loud popping noise in 4x4 consistently until I reached 35mph. If I never would have used it, wouldn't have happened haha
I'm taking it in tomorrow to be fixed... Just going with a used one with around 80k on it., guess that isn't too bad since mine made it to 216k.. plus it has a 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty. To have it rebuilt was gonna be $1300 and really I don't care to invest that much in the truck when it only cost me $2300 to buy it 2 years ago and I don't plan on having it for that much longer.
